Good morning all. There's this nasty file, called "johnycast.exe", a screensaver instaler wich I downloaded to desktop. When I tried to move it to My documents folder, a pop-up message appeared "can't move the file, it is beeing used by....." I tried to rename it, delet it, even in safe mode without success. Neither Avast antivirus nor Norton 360 find anything in it. How can I get rid of this "thing"? Thanks!

3 button mouse not working properly
by Guest choada- 2 replies

I just bought a new computer. Now my Logitech 3 button mouse (marble) does not let me select the middle button as a double click. It is old but I love it. I can't even get to select a different mouse to configure. I ran the install software (which it lets me do) but then when I go to the mouse properties, it is the same generic 2 button mouse. Thumbnail names don't appear?
by Guest spottylover- 1 reply

When I open "My Pictures" and go to thumbnail or filmstrip view, only the thumbnail of the files or image appears and the files names aren't under the folder/image like they used to be. If I switch to any other view the name appears but I need for it to appear under the thumbnail of the folders and images. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi I have independent installs of xp and vista on two separate sata disks. I need to setup an xp/vista dual boot system. Some have advised using VistaBootPRO but I have not really understood how. Could someone please give me step by step instructions and specifically on; 1. What drive should be primary (xp or vista)? 2. In which OS should I run VistaBootPRO? 3. Trying to install vista boot loader, which drive(s) should I choose to install it on? Thanks Regards

Vista backup different from XP?
by Guest rj- 0 replies

I'm not able to backup my C drive to another logical drive on the same hard disk in Vista. I'm able to do it in Win XP. I was told I need a separate hard disk or CD. But I don't believe that. If I can do it in XP I should be able to do it in Vista. I went over the help files and the backup prompts. It says it will backup to drive K and it says I can't include the drive I'm backing up to. All I'm doing is backing up C to K. It goes thru the motions of creating a shadow copy, then I get an error message: The system cannot find the file specified. I thought Vista was supposed to be an improvement on XP. Should I go back to XP??

How do I move my windows installation to another hard drive?
by Guest Christian Knudsen- 6 replies

Here is my situation. I have 2 physical drives, a 6 GB drive that is the primary (C:) drive, and which has Win XP on it. The 2nd is a 80 GB that is the slave, and is partitioned into 2 sections (D: [50GB] and E: [30GB]). Several months ago, in order to save space, I changed my windows documents/temp folders to the E: drive. This has worked well. 6 GB is not enough to house Win XP any longer, though. I recently replaced the MB/Proc/memory, and ended up (for some reason) having to reinstall Windows, again onto C:, and this is proving problematic to upgrade properly for lack of space - I have basically trimmed all non-essential files, and still am short. …

Size of data on disk looks wrong
by Guest Bob M- 12 replies

On my HP laptop, the "Properties" of the D: drive show 2.68GB used. On a copy of everything on this drive, placed on a Desktop, the same data is m731 MB. Both computers use Windows XP. The Laptop is Home Edition, while the desktop is Media Center edition. Both use NTFS. "Hidden" and system files are shown. Why such a large difference? I read somewhere that the "Cluster size" of all NTFS drives is 4096 bytes, so that would not explain the difference. What am I missing? ----------- notbob-m1211@sbcglobal.net Remove "not" for return address.
