Which video capture card should I choose?
by Guest Joachim- 3 replies

I'm looking for a video capture card with the following characteristics: Demands: 1. Including SDK 2. No delays on screen acceptable when you move the camera around (of course no other delays either) 3. Small in physical size 4. MPEG recording 5. Composite and/or S-video Extra plus if: 1. The energy consumption is low 2. S-video connection is possible 3. You can record both MPEG1, MPEG2, and MPEG4. Depending on our end customer needs I am interested in two types on capture cards: 1. Those which take only 1 capture stream (I estimate that this type is the one we would include mostly in our products) 2. Those which take 2 capture streams 3. Those w…

Active Window
by Guest Colt45- 1 reply

XP Pro SP2 When I have multiple windows open just rolling the mouse over one causes it's control bar to highlight; that is the control bar goes bright blue. If I click it comes to the front and becomes the active window. On some programs, such as Windows Picture Viewer, when viewing a picture then click Print, the printer windows comes to the front. If I accidentially permit the mouse to roll out of the print control window the picture comes to the front - did not clidk - and only way to get back to the print window is by using Alt/Tab. Any ideas?

Network Printer
by Guest Joseph- 4 replies

A friend asked me to look into buying a network printer to be used in a small network of PCs (and maybe a Mac) where there is no central server. The most complicated printer setup I've done is a USB printer connected to a single PC and shared with two others. My question is, if a network printer is connected to a router, is there logic in the printer to make it look busy to other PCs if it's printing a job? Also, what happens if 3 PCs have 3 jobs each to print. What order to the jobs print at? TIA

Ok, I have a wierd EFS issue. I have a customer who encrypted a folder with windows EFS. He then moved that folder to an external hard drive, and now he can not get any files off of that folder. He cannot decrypt it or move it back to his hard drive. The account that he encrypted form is still in tact(he is logged in while trying), nothing has changed at all. Is there a way to recover these files?

Hi, Is there a GPO setting or something I can do to let regular users install a removable usb hard drive? I have 20 different users with 10 different drives that need to work on 25 PCs, does this mean I need to install 250 drives? :( Thanks in advance!

ntldr missing

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm with reference to the above, as I don't see the repair install, so I use 'warning #2" after copying the i386 files, I typed in 1. attrib -h -r -s C:\boot.ini del C:\boot.ini "but I get the message that the parameter is not valid. Try /? for help". There is no mistake in my typing and I just wonder if someone can help. As I am unable to get over #1, I have not issue the #2 command which is below 2. Type: BootCfg /Rebuild Other detail; Toshiba Labtop, with XP Home, "fixboot" does not help Many thanks

Application Won't Open
by Guest Ron- 1 reply

I have a user with XP Pro that is having trouble with a particular network application. This application is loaded on her desktop and connects to it's server to store and retrieve documents that are scanned into it's database. It was working fine until two days and she claims nothing was added or changed on her PC. What happens is that when you click on the icon to open the application the normal splash screen pops up, disappears but the actual application doesn't open afterwards. When I look into task manager it says the application and it's process are both running. I've tried re-installing the application client twice but that didn't work. I swi…

Windows XP Startup
by Guest peaviner- 6 replies

Is there any way to keep the Windows XP desktop from appearing until all of the programs and services have loaded? I can't stand it how when I boot Windows XP the desktop appears but I'm not able to use it yet 'cause it's still loading my programs and services. I've already done the config stuff or whatever to remove services from my startup but it's still slow. I've also defragmented the disk and compressed old files to save on disk space. Whenever I've used Mac OS X it's been completely ready to use when the desktop showed up, but for some reason this never happens with Windows. Does anyone know a way to delay the display of the desktop until it's…
