Hi, In Internet Explorer and Windows the Greek text has been replaced by Cyrillic. I’m running Windows XP Professional Greek. When I visit web pages written in Greek the characters appear in Cyrillic. If I change the encoding to Greek (ISO) then they are corrected for that page, but it’s not possible to keep repeating that task every time you go to another webpage. What I noticed is that after changing the encoding to Greek (ISO) and moving to another webpage the encoding has also changed back to Greek (Windows), hence it always defaults to it, regardless if auto-selection is enabled or not. When I first open IE it has defaulted to Greek (ISO), thus the …

by Guest louder- 5 replies

When installing software for a hp c6100 all-in-one printer the installation stops with the message "usbprint.sys needed". I cannot find the file anywhere. It is supposed to be part of the Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. My system configuration tells me that is what I am running. Hp says it's a microsoft problem, and microsoft puts me off to the computer manufacurer (Gateway), and they haven't been of much help either. Any ideas??? -- louderscheid

Hi: I have two files that appear applicable Local Disk (C:) when I open Windows Explorer and was wondering if it safe to delete these files. First is "install.dat" 1 KB in size and the other is "INFCACHE.1" 5 KB in size.I do not understand why the second file INFCACHE.1 is appearing in this location as it is normally related to drivers I thought. Thanks, ColTom

Backup & recovery problem
by Guest General Mailbox- 3 replies

Greetings. After losing over 500 images due to having a wildcard in my parameters during a delete, I've decided to go the extra step beyond system restore points and start using an automated system backup. My backups consisted of copy/pasting files to a 2nd internal drive, but it was affected during the deletion process. I now use an external USB HDD. Using WinXP built-in MS Backup, I've made the two methods of creating a backup. One such backup contains a C drive, another very small C drive, and system state selection. I chose all three boxes and it created a single file. I also did the other method of using the ASR (Automatic System Recovery), which requ…

MOV files won't open automatically
by Guest Terry Pinnell- 11 replies
I have MOV files associated with QuickTime v 6.3. But d-clicking one in a Windows (XP Home) folder does not open the file in QuickTime (or anything else). If I already have QuickTime open, d-clicking an MOV just makes the application window 'flicker/shiver' a bit after a short wait, nothing else. Whatever file (if any) is loaded, stays loaded. Yet if I r-click an MOV and use Open With > QuickTimePlayer.exe, it *does* open (albeit after about 20 secs). Anyone have any ideas please? -- Terry, West Sussex, UK
