Minimized Remote Desktop maximizes on its own
by Guest Bill Fuller- 0 replies

I am experiencing a weird problem with RDP... when I minimize a session from the Connection Bar, it insists upon maximizing on its own about every five minutes forcing me to reminimize. Anyone know what could be causing this (no other application behaves this way)?

System Restore Problem. SR on All Drives turned on after MS Update
by Guest John Butler- 2 replies

By default system restore is only enabled on my system drive (C:\). The other drives are backups and archives and I do not want them subject to system restore Nonetheless I often find the after a restart monitoring all drives has been enabled. It seems likely that this happens after an update because I do not otherwise shutdown the PC Is there a way to lock the settings? -- Old Uncle John

Inbound connections fail, outbound connections are fine - firewall shut off, very strange This is a strange one. I have a XP Pro machine in a domain. It's working fine up to a point. It can access file shares on a server, it can access a mailbox on the Exchange Server via Outlook. The internet works fine, it can access other computers in the domain...everything looks fine. The trouble comes when I try to connect to it from the server or another computer in the domain. I get the "network path not found" error message. I can't even ping the computer. It shows up in the domain list but can't be connect to. The Windows firewall is turned off and no other firewal…

My computer is LOUD!!
by Guest Shaun Rucker- 3 replies

I know this is the XP community, but Dell doesn't help at all. Anyway, I have a Dell Gen 3 XPS with 2 GB of RAM and a 3.59 GHz processor. When I play the video Game Oblivion, my computer gets REALLY loud and half the time it doesn't "calm down" when I'm done playing unless I restart the computer. I know this game is very graphically intense and pushes just about any system to it's limits, so I know this is the problem. I wish I knew more about computers, but I don't, so I can't say what it is that is so loud; my guess is that the coolling unit isn't good enough? I don't know. Any suggestions for how I can get the thing to slow down after I'm done…

My current primary drive is NTFS and my slave drive is FAT32. I plan to add a larger slave drive and wonder if there is any good reason besides security to make it NTFS? The FAT32 has been doing fine. Jon

OK, I have 3 laptops. 2 Dell, 1 Sony. One is running Vista and two are running XP SP2. After the most recent Microsoft Updates on Tuesday they are all displaying the Blue Screen of Death randomly. So far the Dells 1x and the Sony 2x? Has anyone else found this? No new hardware or anything and the hardware is different in all of them. Also, it is a different group of software running at the time.
