I have looked everywhere and still have yet to find a solution to my windows update problem. I am running windows xp pro sp2. I have reverted back to internet explorer 6.0. Since probably sometime in June or July I have been unable to get updates from Windows Update. Error Code:0x8007000B. This is OEM version of windows xp pro sp2. I believe maybe a digital signature is messed up or a windows update may have messed up, not sure? Please Help -- J Turner

by Guest digimom- 2 replies

I had to reformat and re-install my XP sp2 on my desktop...generic computer. Device Manager shows Network adapters: 1394 Net adapter, that's all...but right under this it lists Other devices: Ethernet controller "Yellow ?" which says, when clicked on, Drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)....I don't have a disk for this, nor do I have any drivers..... My broadband connects just fine on my laptop. Any help would be most appreciated. Laptop is Vista....

outlook express seems to be stealing my email!
by Guest Noremac- 4 replies

the inbox in two of my email servers seems to empty whenever my home computer is connected to the web - until I switch on, I can access and read mail in the inboxes from other computers and even forward it (to my third, safe, address). This third address has never been used by outlookm the other two have. Any ideas? I have scanned for viruses and uninstalled and re-installed my McAfee security suite AND deleted all email account details from OE but to no avail.

I enabled Dr. Watson in order to be able to get copies of the log and memory dump that was normally sent in by WER. I would like to switch back to using the standard WER now. To switch to Dr. Watson I simply typed drwtsn32 -i from a command line. Please let me know what I need to do to restore WER. Thanks, Matthew Laney

Corrupt .NET Framework 1.1 causing problems with Media Center
by Guest Matt Modica- 1 reply

Hello, I think I posted this a little while ago but can't seem to find it so I will post it again. Somehow (I don't know how), my .NET 1.1 Framework became corrupt ( I think). I noticed when I tried to open Media Center, which displayed this error: http://picsorban.com/view.php?pic=error2.png I did a little searching and discovered I needed to reinstall the .NET Framework because it was some how "messed up". However, after reinstalling, the same thing happens. When I try to install SP1 for he .NET Framework and an update for Media Center, I get this error when installing both: http://picsorban.com/view.php?pic=error1.png I discovered I needed to run th…

Running windows XP Pro. Have a problem whereby Spybot Search & Destroy is generating an error message because framedyn.dll was not found (Says it fails to start because it can't find it but program does start!?!) Anyway, because I got the error message, I used the search fucntion to find the file and and hence the location in question. No joy; search over very quicky. Tried other files and folder to find but no joy - searched system folders, hidden files and folders and subfolders Seached on net and found file should be located in Windows/system32/wbem folder. It was (Why spybot couldn't find (?) it is another problem) Decided to re-install s…

Scanner Wizard
by Guest Bill Martin- 1 reply

I'm running XP Home with all the updates applied. My problem is with trying to make the "scan" button on a Canon MP530 activate my ArcSoft program that I use with other scanners. The ArcSoft is happy to work with the scanner if I invoke it manually. As it should, the XP Scan Wizard will bring up a list of what it thinks are all the relevant programs on the machine capable of handling a scanner. Somehow it omits to find the ArcSoft program. The question is whether there is some way that I can tell XP to add the program to its Scan Wizard list? Some hack to the Registry or some such? Thanks. Bill

Not enough space to install XP! Cant format
by Guest Calomax- 5 replies

I have a 280GB and a 110GB hard drive. XP was on the 330 and I had to reinstall it. I decided to install it on the 110 disk and got a message that I had to create a minimum 8GB partition so I chose 8GB. The installation went fine but I have a bit more trouble and want to do a clean reinstall. When I try I'm told there isn't enough space in the boot partition and am given no choice to install on the other partition or disk. Setup just closes down. Does anyone know how I can either make more room on the boot partition or install XP somewhere else then remove the existing installation please?

print icon no longer shown in notification area

Hello. In using Windows XP Pro SP2, I am printing on a network printer. I remember in the past that the printer icon would appear in the taskbar notification area when I had a print job queued. It no longer seems to appear there any longer. Is there some setting I can change in Windows to get the printer icon to appear again when I have print jobs queued? Thanks, Mike
