Command Line help in html

I find the Windows XP "Help and Support Center" difficult to use as I'm trying to learn the different CMD commands that is listed under "Command-line reference A-Z". Does anyone know if there's a downloadable html I can put on my system so I can more easily view/search the information? If I can get the following set on my system... http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ntcmds.mspx?mfr=true Actually it would be ideal if I could get the whole set: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ntcmds.mspx?mfr=true TIA

Acquiring network address
by Guest Dennis Backherms- 5 replies

I am experiencing a problem when trying to use DHCP under one profile name. If I log out and back in as another profile, I have no problems acquiring an IP address. When I log out and back in under the problematic user's profile I receive 'Acquiring network address' indefinitely. The wireless card will attach itself to the network but will not assign an IP.

log off, restart and shutdown problem
by Guest knightwizard21- 0 replies

Just recently upgraded from Windows 2000 pro to Windows XP Pro, and ever since, we have intermittent problems of logging off, restarting or a shutdown once logged on. I have disabled the "switch user" option ( did not work ) The only way that we can log off is to use the switch user button and then restart the computer at the log on screen. Any help would be appreciated.

ActiveX install
by Guest Babooze1985- 2 replies

When I go to a gme site (king.com) I am asked to install an activeX control every time. This is a hassle but not a problem. The problem is I thought I'd outwit the infamous "yellow bar". When the install window came up I opened up the options and checked "always allow" from this site. Now when I go to king.com the page just loads, reloads, and reloads. It tells me that it doesn't detect flashplayer (which is installed and up to date), and then just blinks on and off, on and off. Obviously, it is NOT installing the activeX and I need to know how to undo the "always install"---------I've been thru the security settings, tried to see if it somehow got block…

Does anyone have any comments, good or bad, about Apple's extended support? It was my understanding at one time that once you loaded your nano with songs or audio the warranty was null and void. Thanks for comments...

Dial-up fails to dial
by Guest GaryM- 3 replies

I can go through the process of creating a new dial-up connection, and then clicking on the "Dial" button. The result is the message "Opening Port" which is quickly replaced with "Dialing nnnn". However it hangs there. I can use Hyperterminal to send the ATDTnnnn command to the modem and that dials and connects. This is a friends machine, and I don't know what he may have messed up trying to fix this. Can anyone help? Gary Minor

Windows Explorer has erased the settings for my music folders
by Guest dmehling@keenebroadband.com- 2 replies

I use a music download subscription service that stores the music in folders on my hard drive. All of the folders were correctly set up for organizing music files, and if I opened a folder containing music files I could simply click on the button on the left hand pane called play all and it would play all files in the folder through the Windows media player. However, for some unknown reason all the correct settings have been lost, and now my music folders are set to organize its contents as documents and not music files, which means the play all button is gone. To get the button back I have to go to properties and reset to view as a music folder. In addition …

RE: not genuine Windows

RE: not genuine Windows John, I don't know either. I had to re-install my original Vista Ultimate software and, although everything was fine before, I now have a message in the lower right-hand corner of the screen, "This Copy of Windows is not genuine". This is in spite of the fact that I was able to validate normally. I have an original commercially purchased copy of Vista (from military exchange) I don't understand this erroneous message. Max "John" wrote: > What is it that causes the pop-up from Microsoft that reads "This is not a > genuine Windows product"? > > What should I do about it? > > -- > John

Windows Installer on Startup
by Guest Bruce P- 1 reply

Recently I updated some software (HP, Symantec) and in the end I now have a situation that upon start-up, the Windows Installer begins to attempt an installation of 'PhotoGallery'. I do not know what this is (maybe an HP program), but I do not wish to install this and have to cancel this each time I restart XP. Does anyone know where this instruction to begin a program installation resides? Is it in the Registry? A startup .BAT file? It is not in the Startup Program Group. I would like to delete this instruction from my startup routine. Can anyone help? Much appreciated. Bruce Pyle
