Signing into Windows Live Mail, when a simple jpg/gif logo is placed in the upper left corner and saved as a Stationery, during compose it's necessary to enter key several lines down below the text to avoid overwrite of the script. Also, some users receive the email with the overwrite of script on top of logo. Any guesses how to cement the logo in place above text?

For some reason, the address bar that I had showing on my taskbar disappeared. I right-clicked on the taskbar to see if the "Address Bar" option was checked. It's no longer even one of the options. I'd welcome any clues anyone as to how to restore this option.

Disable Rendering of Windows Explorer Icons?
by Guest philaphan80@yahoo.com- 11 replies

Does anyone know of a way to disable the rendering of custom icons within Windows Explorer? I'm talking about the step that occurs *after* Windows Explorer builds its list of files and places those little generic placeholder icons resembling documents with a Windows flag. I'm currently working within folders that contain literally thousands upon thousands of documents. Our network is fast enough to build the list almost instantaneously, but the custom icon rendering takes over and freezes the Explorer window until the entire page's icons are displayed. For example, the generic Windows flag document icons are replaced with Internet Explorer icons when HTML …

Cloning OS drive to newer, larger drive without hidden Dell Restore Partition
by Guest xsrossiter- 16 replies

Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 8300 that I bought with 2 x 200 GB drives and currently am running XP SP2. After first upgrading the data drive to a 500 GB Seagate I would now like to do the same for the OS drive. My question is, Seagate provides DiscWizard software designed by Acronis, that will clone the original OS disc to the new drive, but will the hidden Restore Partition from the original disc pose some sort of problem in the cloning process? I would rather do without the restore information unless it will produce spurious system errors for loss of the information that was maintained in the hidden partition. If this will be the case then I would rather r…

I want to add 'listening-port' as an 'active connection' 1 2
by Guest Jethro- 27 replies

You readers probably are saying, Oh No - here he is again - and here I am! This is another try to make my Remote Desktop Connection work. In the 'active connections' result from command 'netstat -a', I see a line on my so-called RIGHT machine as: Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP RIGHT:3389 RIGHT:0 LISTENING and, as I have said in the past, I can connect from my LEFT machine to the RIGHT machine just fine. So, indeed, RIGHT machine is listening. But, as I also have said, I cannot connect from my RIGHT machine to my LEFT machine. I don't have the above 'listening' line in the 'NETSTAT -…

Roaming profiles not working on laptops
by Guest PMons- 3 replies
I have a strange problem. We have a few laptops that are hardwired to our network (they never leave the office). We are running in a Windows 2003 AD domain, and the users that use these laptops use roaming profiles. The problem is that the users may work from a desktop PC and update a file on their Windows desktop, then log out. When they move to a different part of our office to log in from the laptop, the changes to the file(s) that were previously saved and updated on the server profile, has not been copied back down to the local profile on the laptop. Neither will any changes made on the laptop be copied back up to the server when they log out. This be…

Cursor is jumping to abnormal positions.
by Guest Alexander.- 15 replies

I am utilizing windows XP with SP2 pack and whenever I type in any program whether in notepad, wordpad or office word, after a few words to around 5-7 words the blinking cursor jump to some abnormal location (often a few words behind the recently typed words and begins its exection causing an abnormal jumbling of words). There is an utter chaos to read a paragraph. Moreover typiThng is very slow correcting the cursor to the normal position (ie) to the right of the last word. This is becoming very annoying and tends to be a nuisance. Any suggestion to the correction of this blemish is welcomed and appreciated.

Software will not install, at all!
by Guest dlabedz@gmail.com- 9 replies

I am running Win XP with SP2. When attempting to install new software, (including Office 2007, and Nero 7) I get a warning that the administrator policies do not allow software installation. I have gone into Local and group security policies and the default security level is set to Unrestricted. Still after numerous reboots I cannot install any new software. I have checked the DVD and it is functioning properly.
