I find the Windows XP "Help and Support Center" difficult to use as I'm trying to learn the different CMD commands that is listed under "Command-line reference A-Z". Does anyone know if there's a downloadable html I can put on my system so I can more easily view/search the information? If I can get the following set on my system... http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ntcmds.mspx?mfr=true Actually it would be ideal if I could get the whole set: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/ntcmds.mspx?mfr=true TIA

I have a laptop proloaded with XP home that failed to boot, at safe mode I can see that it stopped after loading the following drivers (I am only listing the last four) ntfs.sys ndis.sys snapman.sys atisgkaf.sys The system stops after displaying atisgkaf.sys Any one can tell me what is the problem? Is there a way to know the loading sequence and perhaps some of the driver is corrupted and by replacing those drivers, will it work. A repair install is not possible because I only have a factory CD that resets everything to the exfactory mode, meaning I have to reinstall every from zero up. Actually I tried that an it seems to run fine indicatin…

Just discovered my CPU is overclocked
by Guest Phil- 8 replies

As I said, my CPU is overclocked, now, being somewhat of a novice compared to some of you guys I am baffled by this as this computer has been running just fine for about 2 years, although just recently I blew a motherboard and had a new one installed. The circumstances od this were, I was chatting on Cam to some friends in Vietnam and everything stopped, the screen went blue with some dialog saying something about disabling BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing and it then proceeded to dump memory to disk? Any advice or hints to resolve this will be gratefully accepted Phil

Changing Drive For "My..." Folders: One-Stop Shopping?
by Guest (PeteCresswell)- 3 replies

Is there a single registry entry that will cascade down to all the "My..." directory locations and change them from one drive to another? I've been coercing "Favorites" with a specific registry entry and somewhere along the line, I managed the same with "MyDocuments"... but it seems like there should be a single point of contact for this... ? -- PeteCresswell

Lost control of temporary internet file folder.
by Guest M8RIX- 2 replies
Greetings all, Recently I have noticed that I can no longer view the full contents of the temporary internet files folder. Previously I had access to the subfolders contained in this folder (ContentIE5 etc...) but I no longer do. I have no clue as to why I no longer have access to these subfolders. Also the security, customize and sharing tabs are gone from the properties dialog on both the temporary internet files and the history folder. None of the other folders are affected this way. How can I regain access to these folders? More importantly, what took control of them? The only change that I have made recently that may have caused this is the insta…

backup using shadow copy causes blue screen stop -- everything elseOK
by Guest bobfnospam@duxsysnospam.com- 0 replies

On a Windows XP Pro with SP2 on a 3.2 GHz Dell Dimension 9100 with hyperthreading and 3 GB RAM: I just replaced the original system disk, which was having permanent disk errors, with a larger disk using Seagate's cloning utility. The system works perfectly except for one thing: I cannot use the backup utility (ntbackup) if volume shadow copy is not disabled (and it cannot be disabled for system state backups). What happens if volume shadow copy is not disabled is that I get a blue screen error BAD_POOL_HEADER, Stop code x19, parameter 1 is 20. If volume shadow copy is disabled, the backup works properly. What seems creepy about this error is that…

Multiple monitors
by Guest Stan2w- 2 replies

I work for a public safety department in the D/FW area. We are close to implementing a new Computer Aid Dispatch system. We have 4 screens connected to one computer, which we can move the different queues where we want them. The problem we have run into is that the company is saying that we have only 2 options. 1. Set it up so that the computer thinks that all 4 monitors are 1 screen, and the task bar goes across all 4 screens, to allow us to save where we place our queues. The downfall of this is if you open a window fully, it goes over all 4 screens, and some emergency "pop boxes" that we use split between screens 2 and 3. The second option is tha…
