I wanted to know if it was possible to use Keyboards and remotes that are for Media Center PC's with the standard XP Professional. I wanted to get a keyboard that has a built in trackball, and the one that I found says it works only with a media center PC (with Windows XP MCE installed), but I didnt know if this was either false, or if there was a work around. Also I would like to get a MCE remote to do the basic windows funtions (On, OFF, volume, music etc.) Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Kevin

AVG changed/infection location of kernal32.dll user32.dll ntosknl.

Every time I run AVG scan it shows that the kernal32.dll user32.dll and ntosknl.exe files have been changed. I rebooted and looked and all are in the C/win/sys32 tree. Does AVG think that they should be somewhere else? I have the free version and no technical support. I did run a fix that someone suggested but it does not work. THis error is on my XP Pro, home computer and XP Home laptop thanks

Mouse and cursor problem - odd

Hi there, thanks in advance for any help. I have a strange problem where the active point of the mouse cursor is not where the cursor appears. The cursor I see is about 1 cm to the diagnal left. For example, if i want to click a button, i have to move the mouse cursor 1 cm to the diagnal left. The problem is intermittent. I also have 2 screens and it doesn't happen on my extended screen, only the primary one. When it does happen, i cannot move the cursor onto the taskbar. It seems to go back to normal when i change to a different app, other than windows explorer (i think). Thanks for any help, John

My Batch-File is supposed to work like this: Invocation (variable parameter list): MYBATCH.CMD FOO BAR P1 P2 P3.... Execution (1) Execute MYBATCH_HELPER.CMD FOO (2) Execute BAR P1 P2 P3 .... How do I write this batch program? My first attempt went like this: REM This MYBATCH.CMD does not work MYBATCH_HELPER.CMD %1 SHIFT /1 %* But this does not work, because %* always gets substituted by all original parameters, ignoring the effect of any previous SHIFT. Hi, I get the following message when I try to open Itunes: "Itunes had detected a problem with your Audio configuration. Audio / video may not operate properly." Also, ocassionally I ge the message "Sonic Focus Drivers Not Found" when I long on to my PC - but not all the time. Help!

I have been using this Toshiba Satellite laptop for about 3 years now and have never had a problem with it remaining on. This morning I had to reformat the hard disk and now it is going into some kind of a standby mode when it didn't before. I tried to chance the power options properties but they are all greyed out. I cannot figure out what to do. There is no problem with the battery and the computer is plugged into the wall outlet. Any help would be appreciated.

Here I am again - in a learning mode. I still can't get XP's 'remote desktop' to work completely. As I said earlier, I have two machines, both with XP PRO SP2 - one is conveniently named 'left' and the other named right' because that is where they are in front of me. Both have the same password-protected user (me) with the same password. 'My Network Places' on both machines show what they should - the two machines in the Workgroup 'MSHOME'. I can access and change most files on either machine from the other machine by using Windows Explorer. Okay then - when I try to use remote desktop connection, it will work one way but not the other. SPECIFICATIONS: Dell Dimension 9100 Intel Pentium 4 processor, 1GB RAM, 2x 160GB hard disks, 256MB nVidia GeForce 6800 graphics, DVD+/-RW +DL, DVD-ROM ok, yesterday I got a wondeful blue screen of death which amongst other things said unmountable boot volume (before I continue i'm writing this on a laptop in case your wondering) After much internet searching, diagnostics etc I was getting a return code of seven, which basically means the hard drive has gone kuput (i think) Anyway on more searching i read somewhere that the drives actually are a copy of each other and hold the same info...soooo I was wondering, can one work on its own with the backup.…

Hi! :-) I like to play a space shooter game called Star Defender. When I go to Start/Programs or Start/Run to open the game, it opens just fine. Hi, We map the "my documents" folder as follows \\server1\users \UserLogOnName Today I was browsing through \\server1\users (using windows explorer) when I saw a folder with the name \\server1\users\documents (The icon was changed to the "my documents" icon). When I double-clicked on the "documents folder" the path in windows explorer changed to the correct name \\server1\users\UserLogOnName! Why did the name of the folder change from "UserLogOnName" to "Documents"??? Thanks for your feedback, Dani
