Color management Problem - XP pro
by Guest hmdz- 0 replies

Hi all. I would like to change the gamma settings for my monitor using adobe gamma. Strangely, the adobe gamma's gamma slider doesn't affect the gamma settings of my monitor at all (as if it doesn't do anything!), and also none of the color profiles in the color management settings of my monitor have any affect on the way my monitor displays pictures. Monitor: LG E700B Graphic: ATI Radeon 7000 Win: XP pro SP2 I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling both monitor and the graphic card drivers. These did not work at all. Thanks for any help.

WinXP Home - Firewall Weirdness
by Guest Alex- 5 replies

Another small problem that's been annoying me for a while - my Windows Firewall got messed up at some point. When I click on Windows Firewall it shows it as Off and everything is grayed out with the message at the top that says: For your security, some settings are controlled by group policy. Going through Help looking up this Group Policy thing was nothing but a headache. It listed procedures that I've tried and can't run, specifically it said they were for Win XP PRO only, and I've always had XP Home. (Would this have anything to do with my using .NET framework?) However, when I go into Security Center, it says my Firewall is On. When I call up the se…

Possible to: Tick or cross off dates as they go by?
by Guest Ben- 5 replies
For example (lets say all cells have black text): 06 Aug 2007 07 Aug 2007 08 Aug 2007 If today is 06 Aug 2007, nothing happens, all cells have black text. Go to sleep... now its 07 Aug 2007. Is there a way to cross/tick off the previous days automatically with a formula or conditional format? I want to make the text turn to red, eg. in our above example 06 Aug 2007 should now turn red because we are now 07 Aug 2007. Thanks in advance for some replies!! (I hope)

I'd run rootkit revealer if I were you. It's another sysinternals utility, so you obviously know where to get it, and there's my pointer above for anyone else. You'll need a fairly recent version, so I'd update to the latest one. (Reason--as you now know--this info is in a protective hi…

Spybot Freezing Up
by Guest MerryMav@gmail.com- 7 replies

Hi, Guys! Hoping someone can explain a few things to me in re Spybot: 1) I've got it set to auto-scan on "Start-Up" but it takes 45 minutes to scan before I can even begin to use my system---is this normal?! 2) Lately, out of 73083 processes (?) to be scanned, my system freezes up at 42522 on account of something called "AdMoke" so I never get to that point, at the end, where I can click the "Fix problems" feature--- I have to turn off the tower via the back button---so, I take it problems aren't getting fixed...? Spybot has also frozen on: a) MyWay.MyWebSearch b) Microsoft.Windows.SecurityFirewallOpenPorts c) Hotbar d) Vario.AntiVirus …

Hi, In the Custom section of Setting Program Access & Defaults the radio option button/line to make the existing second browser default, non-default disappeared. So, I cannot make my second browser (Mozilla Firefox) default one, if wanted this way, but I have to go through more steps with the Mozilla's Tools. The Default is IE. 7. How do I regain this option? (The E-mail programs, Media players have those options.) Thanks sjb

Slow Opening Files When Connected to Network
by Guest Frank- 1 reply

If I'm NOT connected to a network and double-click on a file the assoicated application quickly opens and the file is loaded and opened. When I am connected to a network (CAT5 or Wireless) and I double-click a file it can take more than 60 seconds for the assoicated application and file to open (these are very small files). It appears that after clicking on the file, the system searches for the application on the network then finally finds it on the c: drive. What wrong? How can I reconfigure Win XP to stop searching on the network? Note: I use two other Win XP systems that do not have this problem. I'm thinking this might be configuration problem.…
