When I reset Internet Explorer 7 in XP/Home SP2 it resets the home page to the runonce to custumise it, I have no problem on first install just on reset, the page displays in the status bar error on page usually blue page no text or else, I can navigate to the add search provider page but it does not function when click a provider link also error on page, it always goes to the runonce on IE start even if home page is set different, I have restored function before but it required me to rollback to previous install of IE and then update to have 7 again and then the runonce works fine and I'm just plain tired of rollbacks. I am wondering what the difference really is between the two? Both require port forwarding of port 3389. So why would I use Remote Desktop Web Access instead of just using the regular Remote Desktop client? Thanks!

Win XP Updates -- NON Security Related
by Guest ll- 4 replies

I am asking about Win XP updates that are _not_ security related. With that many lines of code in XP, you can be certain that there are bugs. That's just simple statistics. Does MS also create patches for the more important non-security-related bugs? If so, where are they? I have looked on the MS website and cannot find what I am looking for. A search of the website turns up many links about updates. Typically they will have subjects like: "Get the latest _security_ updates _automatically_". That is precisely what I am NOT looking for. I do that already. I want to review a list of available patches for other issues. How do I do this? Thanks.

Annoying start up message
by Guest Jeff Neufer- 12 replies

A few days ago I started getting a window everytime I start or re-start. The Window's top line is "Old Virus Definition File" with the text "The virus definition file used is more than 30 days old.... I use one of Symantec's anti virus programs and the program WAS up to date with the most current def file. I uninstalled the Symantec program and installed the most current version of the program and updated all of the def files. I still get the window evertime I start/re-start. Clicking the box to not remind me, turning off the Security Center Anti Virus monitoring, etc does not eliminate this very annoying window. Any ideas?

Select Specific MAC Address
by Guest Skier7667- 0 replies

Hi - If a differnt forum is better suited for this question, please let me know. i have a Netgear wireless adaptor connected to my PC via USB and it is functioning properly. I have Windows XP and problem that I'm faced with is that I have two MAC addresses being picked up by my wireless adaptor. One signal is stronger than the other and it always defaults to the stronger signal for obvious reasons. How can I force Windows or configure it to "lock in" to the weaker incoming MAC address. The driver for the wireless adaptor does show both and even if i select the weaker signal MAC address, it ill select the stronger one. So forcing Windows to select the…

Whenever I try to access a page for a download, i.e. an update, Norton 360, Webroot Spy sweeper, Zone Alarm etc. I get a white screen with the above message. I've run Norton, Zone Alarm, XoftSpySE, Reg Cure, Spy sweeper and none of them indicate I'm infected with anything, yet I can't download anything that can help me. Any clues? Thank you for your help
