In the print-preview option of Windows Explorer, the default print size is “Shrink to Fit,” which often makes the print too small to read. How can I change the default size to “100%,” rather than having to do it manually all the time?

Win XP Pro, SP3 Is it possible to remove Outlook Express completely? Is there a way to COMPLETELY remove the Contents of the p…

Hello all. I've noticed that right after upgrading XP to SP3, ntbackup has stopped backing up my scheduled task for Outlook Express' dbx files, even though the task exits with the success code 0x0. Upon closer examination with some test files, it appears that ntbackup will NOT load the 'Load Selections' if they are BELOW the path: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data \Identities\Registry Stuff\ Any files loaded and 'Save Selections' in the path: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data \Identities\Registry Stuff\Microsoft\Outlook Express\ does NOT load when you reload the selections using 'Load Se…

I've been logging in to XP Home most of the time as an administrator. How big a security risk is this? If I start using a limited account, is there a way to copy the documents and settings and maybe the Outlook Express mail and address book from the Admin account? Thanks

Machine name of the previous owner
by Guest Man T- 3 replies

My current machine is a clone of my colleague who used the 'ghost' tools to replicate his harddisk when I first came to my current company. I know it is not a good idea but that the way he did. I can see the reasons was he did not want me to spend time on the installation of all the softwares. Here's my actual question: I tried to create an installer using InstallShield and test it. However, on the page of the 'Customer Information' the 'User Name' box was filled with my colleague's name. It told me his footprint is left/spread in my machine. It also seems his name is set as default. How do I do to get rid of such thing?

-- Hello, I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP2 Pentium 4 Processor 2.53GHz 512MB Memory PC 1066 RDRAM (2x256 modules) My programs take too long to open. I've deleted Temporary internet files, history & Cookies along with TEMP files. I've done a defrag and deleted many files on my hard drive which is 110GB 54GB free. Cleared Recent file folder and ran Ad a Ware, Spybot and AVG. My Firewall is only Zone Alarm, I turned off Windows Firewall thinking the 2 may be causing the delays. Any suggestions? I already re-formatted my entire computer. Is it time to buy a NEW Computer? -- thank you thank you

Hello, I need to be able to detect programaticallly from a Windows application the appearance of a new drive letter, e.g. z, y, etc. Ideally I would like to use an event driven approach. Is there a function in the Win32 API that will allow me to register a callback function that will be called when driver letters appear(are assigned by the Windows executive)? Thank you, Bill

audio settings menu using skype
by Guest flower- 9 replies

I have downloaded the latest version of skype, but on carrying out the test call, get the message "skype cannot hear you talking. Is your microphone muted?" Have gone through all the troubleshooting tips to no avail. My audio settings menu only has one option "Realtek AC97 Audio", and not "SoundMAX Digital Audio" which seems to be required for skype. This is strange, as with the previous version of skype everything worked perfectly. Does anyone have a solution?
