Is it possible to uninstal SP3 and return to SP2? After installing service pack 3 I'm getting the above error with the following information: szAppName:svchost.exe szAppVer 5.1.2600.5512 SzModname:rpcess.dll I have run spybot, adware, ccleaner, a2squared, avg virus protection, pctoos spyware. Most of these have also run in safe mode. My computer is clean to the best of my knowledge. The error happens after the notebook comes out of hibernation. I then have about a minute to close programs and the computer reboots. Can you suggest anything? I've looked in MS website for issues and haven't had any success to date. Lanny

Service Pack 3 and ActiveSync 4.5 incompatibility
by Guest James S Clark- 15 replies

I have been experiencing problems with XP SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5, in as much as a windows mobile 5 or 6 device can no longer reliably connect & re-connect via USB & use ActiveSync to synchronise. Both PC & mobile device often require a complete restart or uninstalling and reinstalling everything before functionality returns. After this it stops working again after the device has been disconnected for the is first or second time and the whole process has to be done again before a connection can be established. According to the MS website, ActiveSync 4.5 is only compatible with XP SP2 and earlier - I thought this was just an out of date messag…

EEE PC 901, moving folders from C: to D: drive...
by Guest JoeyBoy- 1 reply

I just got the new eee pc 901, great little thing. Comes with 12GB of SSD storage, with XP. The problem is that the 12GB is on two different SSD, the main one or C: is only 4GB(!!!) and the secondary one or D: is 8GB. I want to make only the most important programs and data go/file to that C: drive and I need to move all of "My Documents" to the D: drive so that I have space on C: for all of the updates and necessary files for function. It won't let me do it though... If I try to move "Documents and Settings" from C: to D:, it tells me that this folder is necessary for critical function and cannot be moved... Do I create new "My Documents/picture…

Print Director Listing
by Guest Bob Speck- 6 replies
I have 10 logical partitions, C - L. When I click on My Computer I get all the partitions listed in the right column with their size and free space. I had installed a version of "Print Directory Listing" that would print the right column exactly as it appeared on the screen when I did a right click, or maybe it was when I clicked on File. Now for some reason it no longer works. How can I get it to work again? I don't want to print the directories, only the partitions with their sizes and free space. Bob Speck

Windows backup isn't working (anymore).....
by Guest Niek- 4 replies

Hello, I'am from Holland, 60 years and I've a question about Windows backup. If I'm making translationfaillures: I'm sorry for that. I have XP Professional now with SP3 and used the built in backup (ntbackup.exe). The program now no longer works: the only thing I get to see is "the green beam with: busy to look for backupmedia"… From a CD with XP Home I've activated ntbackup.msi: it doesn't work. I also downloaded ntbackup installer, the installer replaces then in system32 the existing ntbackup.exe file and… nothing. Then I've copied from another pc with XP Professional the files ntbackup.exe, ntbackup.hlp and ntbackup.chm and plced them in system32 and……

I clicked Start - Then got Disk Check Complete (No results) I then ran Automatically fix file system errors - it did it thing and once again (no results). I then ran Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. Once again it did it's thing and once again - no results. Am I supposed to be seeing any results? Or am I using wrong procedure? Recommendation for Third Party Spell Checker
by Guest Will- 2 replies

Can someone recommend a third party application spell checker that would work with text in any edit text of any application? The user interaction I want is to have my user highlight text in any application edit text box, hit some special key sequence, and to have the spell check text then transported into the spell checker GUI. Once done, the user would hit a button to terminate the spell checker, and the modified text would be pasted to replace the highlighted text in the edit text window. This is such an obvious and useful idea I guess there must be dozens of these around, but I would like to know which are the best ones. My users strongly obje…

Vista beta removal on multiboot disk
by Guest - Bobb -- 2 replies

I have one PC with X64, XP and Vista beta 32/64 on it that currently uses "Vistaboot Pro". Since Vista beta no longer needed/wanted, any way to remove those beta partitions/boot info and have XP and X64 'go back to using old ( non Vista) boot loader info' ? I DID copy the boot info from C (X64) into another folder prior to installing Vista, but it's been so long since I messed with loader I've forgotten what to do (BCDEDIT etc) ! ( I could wipe/reinstall X64 and XP but would like to avoid if possible)
