Foolishly I installed Microsoft's Winter media pack. As a result, when I go Properties-Desktop the background list (i.e. wallpapers) is all messed up. It contains a few of the XP wallpapers and about a dozen random images from My Pictures (always the same images). I have checked C-Windows-Web-Wallpaper and all the images that should be there are there so its not corrupted. any ideas, please? When task manager is called with ctrl/alt/delete there should be three tabs. For some time I only get one tab, the list of running processes (the one with Image Name heading the left column). Any fixes, please? Gareth -- For essential news about Huddersfield Town Football Club join the Terriers Mailing List at http://www.Terriers.me.uk .

Hard Drive Question
by Guest Justin- 3 replies
Say I have 2 internal hard drives, 1 installed with windows xp and the other installed with a game. When playing the game will both hard drives be running? The reason why the game is installed on the other hard drive (not installed with win. xp) is because I don't want to slow the speed of my computer down). I'm just thinking about how much heat will come from running 2 hard drives at the same time for a long period, that is if both hard drives will be running, which brings me back to my above question. Thanks

Xp reinstall Can't uninstall programs
by Guest Hillneerg- 6 replies

I'm new to XP (Celeron/1.7/632 Ram Xp Home) as I have just obtained a PC from a friend who was upgrading. She left a few programs on it but I didn't really want them so (foolishly) reinstalled XP from the CD. This removed all the programs from the start menu but not from the PC. They would all need re-installing from what I gather but I'm not concerned with that as I didn't buy them in the first place and have my own copies. Now, the problem is, trying to run Word 2002 (or other Office10 programs like Frontpage) gives the message that it isn't installed for the current user. Ok, fair enough, I have my own copy of Office XP and have tried to install but my …

I have been trying to configure my sister's computer to accept Microsoft and A- Squard updates but nothing I do seems to work. She's connected to the internet although when I clicked tools>internet options> connections tab there was nothing there. I tried to configure this like mine as with have the same ISP provider but it did nothing. Everything else works fine includinng IE7, Spybot, AVG, Comodo etc. but for some reason Microsoft keeps coming back with this message: "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view". She has Active X installed so that isn't the problem. Also she cannot download updates from …

I recall that the standard license for Win2K allowed 2 CPUs and I assume XP is the same. How are quad-core processors treated as far as counting CPUs? -- Bert Hyman | St. Paul, MN | bert@iphouse.com

about completely removing microphone & accessibility tools
by Guest jjoensuu- 1 reply

Hi folks, a question about the Windows XP Pro SP2 microphone driver and the Accessibility Tools. Is it possible to completely remove these from the system, and if so, how? Does Windows XP come with a microphone driver or is it always a third party product, from the company who made the audio components on the particular system? As to the Accessibility Tools, the only thing I have been able to do is to get the "Accessibility Wizard" to appear in "Add/Remove Programs". But even this option would only remove the "Accessibility Wizard"; it would not for example delete the shortcuts under Start > Accessories > Accessibility. thanks in advance, JJ
