Hi All, Does anyone know how to resolve the following fault? I recently installed McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 & SiteAdvisor, & my PC seems to be running OK, apart from the expected slow down with this extra security running. However, I recently noticed a problem when I try to delete my browser history under internet options, as the process seems to hang on deleting history, until I open Task Manager to end the process. I have also noticed that when using IE7, an Hour Glass icon keeps appearing on screen every second or so next to the mouse arrow? I really do not understand what the problem is, as everything has worked OK for a co…

by Guest pilot- 2 replies

am currently running XP Home as the OS for my computer, but need to install XP Pro in order to get IIS as this of course does not come with the home version of XP. So I have installed VMware 5.5 in a folder on the hard drive and have extracted the files. Fine so far! Then have created a new virtual machine and installed XPPro. On starting XP pro from within the VMware control panel the first time this appears to work and it opens and runs Pro as it should. However if I close this down and start XP Pro up again either on the second or third time it takes an age to load up and when it does I cant find the IIS connection. If I go to the Run command and type M…

Problem Removing Program
by Guest Vaithy- 1 reply

I used the "change/remove program" to remove a connectivity cable driver that I had installed and didn't work. After a few tries the name of the driver is still sitting in the list of programs; also, a re-install didn't work. How to get rid of the unwanted cable driver program? I have Windows XP Sp2. Should I go to DOS and try? -- Raja Vaithy

Temporary Internet Files get removed automatically
by Guest Optimus- 7 replies

Hi everyone, I currently have a problem with the temporary internet files. They've been getting removed automatically everytime after I shutdown my laptop. Also, when I'm running my winxp overnight til the nextday, it always happens like that. However, I'm not so sure that the cause of the problem comes from virus. My Labtop have been infected with viruses long time ago, but they've been removed. One important thing, I didn't change any option under the internet explorer's menu. What would I need to do to get it back to the normal stage? Thanks in advance,

Linux files have owners and groups. Nobody and 99.99 seem to cause me most problems. Windows appears to ignore them. As most webservers are Linux you can edit files on your windows computers and when you send them up you get a situation where you can't you can't override, edit or delete them when they are on the server. How do you change these values in Windows?

Help! My Desktop VPR Matrix 2000 (sold by bestbuy) crashed, and I lost my restore disk. I have the product key. When I call the PC Manufacture, it automatically transfers me to BestBuy. They in-turn give me the same number to call the manufacture again and say thats the only number they have. Looking for someone who has a copy of the restore disk. The VPR MATRIX 1600, 1800 or 2000 models use the same disk. i can use my product key. Can anyone help me? i would greatly appreciate it! -- rli

I was told by Microsoft that I was unable to change neither my hard drive nor my motherboard (for upgrade purposes) but they were only able to provide supporting documentation regarding the motherboard... How to id the app triggering this dialog
by Guest glen- 6 replies

My wife recently installed a number of shareware apps (approx 8) but didn't particularly like any of them so uninstalled them all using the supplied uninstall options. (On XP home) Now a dialog box appears every few mins. "No connection to the internet is currently available. To view internet content that has been saved on your computer, click work offline", there are two buttons 'Work Offline' and 'Try again' neither of which appear to do anything, and there is no internet available from that computer. Is there any way to track down where this dialog is coming from? Thanks
