Restore Outlook Express eMails to SMTP
by Guest mmaenz@yahoo.de- 5 replies

Hi, I reinstalled my system, and I'm using outlook for years. Now I forgot to check the "Leave Message on Server" property. All my emails are now in outlook and no mail is at my mail provider. I'm using at work outlook and at home the web interface of my mail provider. How can I put/copy my mails from outlook express back to my mail provider with the correct date and all attachments?? Only have SMTP/POP access, no IMAP. Well, I could develop a program, that would read every mail through outlook api, extract the date, make a smtp connection with my mail provider and send it back to the server including the attachment. Is there already any tool that does the jo…

I inherited my daughter's old laptop and have a problem with the mouse cursor. If I leave it resting on an icon or other program option for any length of time, it automatically opens the program or performs the action. I know this was an option on XP, but I can't find how to turn this off and make it only do this when I single-click the touch pad. Please help!

Possible Windows Installer Issue
by Guest Aaron Wright- 0 replies

Hello Everyone, I have an administrative installation point (AIP) of Office XP and 2003 on one of our servers. To patch our client PCs I run the following on each: msiexec.exe /i \\LocalAIPServer\OfficeXP\pro.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomu /q. This is a Microsoft recommended method of updating Office installations. This had worked in the past, but has recently stopped working, and I don't know why. For example, Word XP. I checked winword.exe on the AIP, and it has the version 10.0.6829.0. I ran the above command manually on a client PC, but after it finished the version of winword.exe on the client PC was still 10.0.6826.0 I checked the version…

Resident antispyware disables loading of McAfee AV on access scan
by Guest Spruce Street- 3 replies

I installed Spysweeper and found that it blocked startup McAfee Antivirus on access scan when I boot up. Right would indicate that I could disable, even though disabled already, so I disable, and then right click to enable, and it appears to work. I uninstalled Spysweeper (for that reason and also because it slowed the computer down too much) but the problem still occurs, MOST of the time, but not all. The other variable is that I installed SpyBot with the new resident feature, which I don't use. I assume that Spysweeper made a registry change, but I don't know how to find it or fix it. I have run Spyblaster and SpyBot and AdAwareSE on the computer an…

A bluetooth GPS receiver connected to a laptop with Windows XP prof. I do the BT connection in the builtin "Bluetooth manager" in WinXP and the GPS receiver is getting the virtual COM-port nr 16. The problem is that the software (Fugawi ver 3.1) which should connect to the GPS receiver can not handle COM-ports higher then 10. Is there a way to change the nr of the COM-port for this BT device ? Anyone? Thanks in advance. Best regards Martin Rådbo Teknologia

Folder View, Folder Names, and IE Frames
by Guest Shane- 2 replies

Greetings, I'm using XP and IE6 and am trying to do something a bit unusual. I have a few projects with documents in various states of completion. Each type and each stage have their own folder, so I'm working with 9 folders. The only way to compare the contents of different folders, as far as I know, is to open both folders, resize them to see both, and compare. I created an HTML file with 9 frames, each pointing at one of the folders. Now I can open the HTML document and see the contents of all folders, even move files from one to another. Cool. The problem is... I have no way of knowing which folder is which without doing a right-click > proper…

by Guest Noble- 1 reply

I couldn't find an IE7 forum, hope this question is okay here. I have Search Google as my default. When I use the google search, no matter what I type in the box on the toolbar, it returns a search %s. I am using IE7. You know, when you search using the toolbar box, there is a box and a little magnifying glass. Then, the search result on the screen and another search box that you can use. It is THAT box that has a %s in it and the results of the search always starts with the Wikipedea definition of S Is there something I can change? I've looked in Internet Options and don't see anything. In the "change search defaults" under settings listed are 2 Goog…

by Guest Pat- 4 replies

On my desktop with WinXP Pro, I need to move it to a larger, and faster, IDE HD, from 80G to 250G. After the new drive is formatted, is Norton Ghost the right program to use to move all my files over? If I use Clone in Norton Ghost, will it just clone/move all my files, or will it clone/recreate my old 80G partition on my new 250G HD? Thanks, Pat

i just ordered a new machine which has x2 300 gig drives - i intend to use one drive as system/software drive (C:) and the other for data (D:) my question is that because the drives are so big (my current C: drive is only 20 gig) should i partition them? i do realise that new software uses a lot more space 300 g seems very big just for a system - obviously it's not so easy to change my mind later so i'm fishing for recommendations really

Full Access Folder
by Guest JethroUK©- 9 replies

before shutting down my old p.c. i need to make sure the files are fully accessible from my new p.c. via network cable - i don't need any security for these files at all but i don't want to have to rig it all back up because i can't access the data 1/ the drive itself is already 'shared' by default? but it won't even let me look at permissions so i'm assuming it's accessible from a networked machine 2/ the main folder (there are serveral but i can put them into one) i should set: 'share this folder' = checked permissions = 'everyone' read/write (this is default so will it give me access?) security tab still shows different users with different permissions…
