I was having problems with Kodak EasyShare. One solution suggested to take it out of the MSCONFIG file. I ran MSCONFIG, clicked the Kodak EasyShare, clicked Apply. It then told me that I needed to reboot my computer. I did. Now the system comes up Start Windows Normally or Start from last Known Settings that Worked. No matter what I click, it goes back to this screen. What did I do?! How can I fix it? Please help - cf

I upgraded to Windows XP Home from Windows 98 SE. i backed up Mydocument files to a CD. When I try to open wordpad, I get the message, "cannot load Windows for word 6. Does anyone know a registry key solution for that problem or any fix for that problem? A tech representative from Microsoft gave me a registry command to correct the problem. I have spent my two free questions with them. I had to reinstall XP Home, That is the reason for the problem. Uglytrick

XP desktops and vista notebook can connect to network but xp notebooks can't?
by Guest gaikokujinkyofusho@gmail.com- 4 replies

I just got a a linksys wireless router and got it all setup first my xp notebook, then a vista notebook, then a xp desktop all with no problem. I next tried to connect another xp notebook and it gave some strange error (about the IP address) and then i went back to my notebook and started getting the same error and then with another xp notebook . Now all the xp notebooks tell me "limited or no connectivity" when i click on "details" it gives me a funky ip address (like 254.105.109 instead of a normal 192.168.1.x like the router is giving to the xp desktops and the vista notebook. The subnet mask is also different than what i put into the router. I can't figure…

by Guest manic chris- 7 replies

I hope somebody has an idea on this one. When I run the defragment analyse utility it tells me I need to defrag and shows loads of red on the display just to make the point. However, when I run the defrag it gets to the end and the drive is still fragmented!! I even ran recovery console and used chkdsk c: /r thinking I might have one or two corrupt files but this has made no difference.

Upgrade Hard Drive, Dell E1505 Laptop
by Guest gus- 3 replies

I want to upgrade to a larger hard drive on my Dell E1505 Laptop. I have questions regarding the software transfer (not the physical installation of the drive). The system was purchased with WinXP and subsequently upgraded to Vista Ultimate and Office 2007. I see Dell places four partitions on the drive: Utilities, Windows C:\ drive, Backup and something called "CP/M, Concurrent DOS, CTOS". Questions are: -Is there a way to clone the old drive to the new drive, which is larger (Presumeably this involves physical hookup of the two drives, and a cloning ultility which works with Windows Vista). -Or can I use my Dell (Windows XP) reinstall CD's onto the new…

Questions on restricted shares - XP Home
by Guest Peabody- 1 reply

My desktop runs XP Pro, but two other family members have laptops running XP Home. I would like to be able to restrict share access on each computer to just one of the other two. So, for example, I want to sync certain financial files with one laptop, but not the other laptop (which would itself have it's own syncs on different folders). The problem is the XP Home computers. Home seems to treat everyone on the network as a Guest logon, and completely ignores that actual name and password of the user logging in. And while I can change the NTFS permissions of a folder as it applies to Guest, I don't see how to assign different rights to different ne…
