Scanner and Camera Wizard runs slow
by Guest Dave Reichert- 3 replies

I'm using the camera wizard to transfer JPGs from my camera's compact flash card (using a USB card reader) to my PC's hard disk (XP SP2). The speeds I get are slow, around 10 Mbs (looks like USB 1.1). However, if I open a DOS window, and use the "copy" command, I get over 100 Mbs. Also, if I use Adobe Bridge to copy from the card reader, I get over 100 Mbs. My BIOS is all setup for USB 2.0. Any ideas why the wizard is so slow?

Font problem with Sans-Serif
by Guest Cheese- 0 replies

After reloading XP, I added some fonts to use with Adobe CS3. I don't recall replacing or deleting any fonts, but when I was finished, I immediately noticed a different font on Craigslist. This is not one of the fonts I added. Bottom line, I have no idea how this font changed. I would like to get things back to normal again with as little pain as possible. Here's what Craigslist looks like in IE7. http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/7583/craigslistap2.gif

I used to get an option menu when inserting a CD, or a memory card in the card reader, to see a slide show, etc. I no longer get that option menu. I think that I probably may have accidently hit the Do Not Show Again button. How can I restore that menu option. Roland rburgan@up.net

IE7

Internet Explorer 7 is a total disgrace. It provides for security not requested, and if it had some efficiency it would be nice, but it is taking minutes to go from one window to the next! On the other hand it has converted my screen into its private billboard. It pops up instructions at every turn. Unless somebody can advice me how to permanently kill off the pop-ups and a how to drastically improve its performance I am going back to version 6. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Alvaro

Hello, I've got a friend running XP Home SP2 and when he creates an new user account it doesn't allomw him to login to that account. It doesn't matter if he adds a password or not. If he doesn't add a password, it still asks for one. If he adds a password and then tries to enter that password to login, it doesn't accept it. Why would this happen? How can I fix it for him? Thanks, Jeff

Restore points as a solution to all problems
by Guest Eric Anderson- 3 replies
Questions: 1. I just found that I only have restore points back to the first week of August, but my computer was received in late June and I have been installing things right along. There is a checkbox that says to check it to get restore points older than 5 days, but that only displays a few more restore points. How do I get it to save restore points older than a few weeks. 2. Is there a way to edit the registry or have it "repaired" for standard Microsoft features that does not require reverting to an older version and losing EVERYTHING you have done as far as installs? Background: Several things do not work as they should and the solution is always to…
