SQL Dumper library failed initialization
by Guest ewibarby- 0 replies
This is the message I get everytime I restart my computer at the log in page. "SQL Dumper library failed initialization. Your installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with. Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem." I think I did this accidentally when I was in add/remove programs. All I know is I removed something (I was in a hurry and tired) accidentally and now when I restart my computer, I get the above message. I don't know what the program is that this message is referring to in order to remove it and add it back. I would appreciate it if you could direct me in the right direction. Thank you in advance. The demand for XP will be very strong until and if a better version of windows than Vista the OS for MORONS, comes out Article: Microsoft has finally given in to public demand. What does a 'virtual memory' error message mean?
by Guest Christine- 11 replies
Several times recently I have received an error message that says "Virtual memory minimum too low." What does this mean and what can I do to fix it? My computer is only 4 years old and has enough juice to operate the few basic applications I have been running when this error message has appeared. In the past I have had plenty of apps running with no problems. I do regular housekeeping like disk clean-up, error checking, and defragging. Also, it has happened relatively soon after restarting the computer. Any help is greatly appreciated so thank you in advance. ~Christine

Outlook Express 6.0 odd behavior
by Guest BBinOH- 5 replies
Here are a couple of odd things that have been happening: 1) When a new message arrives, I hear the tone twice. 2) Sometimes when I delete a message, it is not deleted from the list and is not available in the preview window. Upon closing & opening the program, the deleted messages no longer appear. 3) Programs hangs after hitting "Send" in a message window but will send if you hit the "Send/Recv" button from the main window, hit "Stop" , then hit the "Send/Recv" button again. These are mostly just annoyances and I'm trying to correct them. I have compacted the messages. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Why Does a WIn XP automatic update improperly close my outlook 200
by Guest JTollack- 3 replies
I leave my Work PC on all the time, but "locked" when away for the night. I have Windows Update set to Automatically download and install new updates. I find it unreasoneable for Windows Update to "improperly close" my Microsoft Office applications! Windows should be able to make a hook to properly call an exit and then check for it's proper termination at least for Microsoft's own applications! I have checked the behaviour of office applications on exit, to ensure there is no error or warning prompt happening, that may be "hanging" the proper exit of any of the applications. I have a large PST file (well below operational limits…

Windows updates wreck display settings
by Guest Bakes- 3 replies
Everytime I download the latest windows update my display settings go to default: the display sets to the lowest resolution and all of my icons move from their original position. It is as if the computer boots into safe mode, (but the display does not indicate that specifically) I have tried saving the desktop theme to no avail. Each time I must reset all of the font sizes, re-arrange the icons and reset the resolution. sometimes I must reboot 4 of 5 times to get it back to normal. - if I simply reboot under normal conditions, this problem does not occur. What is causing this?

by Guest DLGolfs- 0 replies

I have a Sager 5750 that has an Elantech touch pad, I have tried Elantech website, but support is not available in English. Sager claims it is a conflict with Xp, Removed mouse driver completely, through safed mod and regular. XP installed ps/2 driver, then installed ELantech driver, still does not work. No other pointing device is installed (removed Logitech wireless mouse to do above) Sage claims that XP will not let elantech driver to be installed, looked at driver of touchpad and it lists many ktp (elantech) drivers and xp drivers. tried to update driver using elantech file, does not see a driver there. I downloaded the Elantech/KTP driver …

System Restore registry key missing
by Guest Vickie- 15 replies

Two days ago I had read it was a good idea to occassionally run an online antivirus scan sort of as a second opinion to one you run installed on your computer so I ran the Kaspersky Online Scan which said it found three items. (Norton is installed on the machine and found nothing.) I sent three files to Kaspersky to evaluate and in the meanwhile I disabled and then enabled System Restore again. A restore point was created at that time by itself. After the fact I received an email from Kaspersky apologizing but it was a false result. Great. Now I lost all my previous restore points and it has not created a System Checkpoint since I enabled it again. I …

XP Installation Media
by Guest mcp6453- 5 replies

Recently I purchased a used Lenovo 8189 computer. It has the requisite XP license sticker on the side. The hard drive was wiped clean, including the restoration partition. I need XP media to install the operating system. The key on the label does not work with my VLK version, and it does not work with my retail version. There must be some version of installation media that will allow me to reinstall a fully legal and licensed copy of XP on this machine. Two of my wholesalers have said that any XP disk will work, but that's incorrect, as I have demonstrated today. Restoration CDs are no longer available from Lenovo. The only disks that they are making av…

Router problems Linksys
by Guest giddyup- 7 replies
I have a 8 port Linksys router that works fine with three existing computers. I decided to add a fourth which was a new Dell with Windows XP home. This computer is accessible through the shared folders on the networks but can not access the internet unless you unplug the router and plug it back in. This works without fail until you get off the internet and try to get back on. Then you have to unplug again. This router is located approximately 60 feet away and requires stair climbing to access router which tires me out. 1. Computer is accessible through shared folder without unplugging router. 2. Have tried different jacks on router, same results. 4.…

I'm running XP Media Center Ed. circa 2002 on an HP Pavillion, if that matters. I'm afraid I can only describe my problems symptomatically, as I don't have any technical knowledge on software. My computer was fine, but a few days ago I booted it up only to have it "loading personal settings" for a long time. It eventually logged me in, but I found that my desktop picture (and all other personal settings) were gone and my desktop was cluttered with, not my files, but Vongo, AOL free trial, and a slew of other icons, possibly the same ones the computer started with, but I'm not sure. What's weirder is that clicking "My Documents" only had My Pictures, Vid…
