Purchased HP wireless mouse 9/4 and setup consisted of plugging in USB transmitter and away I went. Today the mouse batteries died and I replaced them. No matter what I did, could get no recognition that the PC recognized the mouse. Called HP and after about 2 1/2 hours got to right department. Actually one call they wanted $ to test my system, and all this over a $26 mouse. Item is warranted for 1 year and tomorrow they will call me so a new can be obtained. Hoping someone reading this might offer a testing suggestion. Using Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Presently using old wired PS2 mouse. Man this wireless stuff is great!!

My font folder is full of foreign fonts that I did not install. I think maybe it was done through Windows updates and Word updates. Can I remove these fonts? Which fonts must I maintain in my OS? I do desktop publishing and need lots of fonts of different varieties at different times, any ideas? Thank you, Joan

Do You Know Where To Get A Safe Payday Loan? http://tips.susahsenang.com/?p=148 http://tips.susahsenang.com/?p=148 One of the most popular ways of getting a loan today is through a payday or check advance company. So many people are using these services to supplement their income when they find themselves in unexpected situations that require more money than what they have on hand. They are really convenient because they usually require no credit checks and only a minimum of other paperwork and requirements. Almost anyone who has a regular job and a checking account in good standing can be eligible for one of these loans. http://tips.susahsenang.com/?p=14…

SharedAccess error in Event Viewer
by Guest wings- 0 replies
I am getting service timeout errors for the SharedAccess service being reported in event viewer. On investigation I found that the service is not listed in the list of active services but there is an entry for it in the registry. I understand that the SharedAccess service is for the firewall and Internet Connection Sharing. I use a third party firewall (Zone Alarm) and do not use ICS, so I assume that this is why the service is not running. The question is why am I getting reported errors when I am not using the functions that rely on this service? Any help would be appreciated.

Moving C:\Documents and Settings.
by Guest willshak- 11 replies

Windows XP Home, SP3. I am running out of space on my 16GB C: drive. I only have 1.58 GB left. I have plenty of vacant space on my 58.8GB D: drive (40.6 GB free). Whenever possible I install new programs to the D: drive. I have moved a lot of old programs files from the C: drive to the D: drive and then used a registry checker to move the registry addresses to the new drive. My C:\Documents and Settings Folder has 3.81GB of files. I am hoping to move the whole D&S folder to the D: drive to free up those 3.81 GBs of space on C:. Can this be done? -- Bill

by Guest operaflute- 23 replies

I've got XP Pro on my Dell Inspiron 8600 (SP 2 but same problem after I got SP3) I upgraded the hard drive with a 160GB Western Digital Scorpio Drive in November 2007. All sources called it compatible and all had been well until now. New RAM card a month ago - again confirmed compatible, and, to date, not implicated. Problem: after shutting down, computer will not reboot. After the Dell splash screen, I get a black screen with a blinking cursor and I can not type. Quick diagnostics give me the error: DST Short Test Fail Error 1000-0142 Unit 4: Drive Self Test Failed Status byte 79 Repeats of the above test now tell me: DST Short Test Fail …

In both, outlook express and wordperfect, when I try to write, at every few letter-hits, the cursor suddenly, inexplicably jumps backward to insert the intended letters into already written texts. I have tried everything to avoid it (e.g. writing slowly, one letter at- a-time). Nothing works. Any advice or ideas about how to fix this?? Laptop HP Pavillium XP Thanks Boticelli

Hello, I tried to send a message to a website "contact us" form. At the end of the form I was asked to type in two words from a dialog box, matching what I saw, then hit the continue button to send the message. I keep getting a pop-up dialog box, I assume from Windows, telling me: ! category requires a value. No attempts to redo the typing will keep me from getting the same pop-up message. What can I do to send the message? I am running Windows XP. Thanks.

Normal sounds from videos and music are fine, it's just the windows sounds don't play or work.. i've used some anti-spyware and registary fixers, maybe thats the problem., i just want to know how to fix it.

XP freezes with switch users
by Guest harold- 1 reply

I have XP media center. Suddenly, about three months ago, I could not use the "switch user". My wife and I both have administrative privileges. If we use the "switch user", the computer freezes requiring a manual shutdown. If we log off first, then the other person can log on. I have checked the "run/services.msc and placed the "terminal services" and "fast switch user" on automatic, and have appropriately checked the user accounts "switch user" on the control panel.
