Delayed Write Failed

Hi I am running Win XP Home (SP 3). After re-installing my HP PSC 750 driver, I am constantly receiving Delayed Write Error messages. I cannot disable the write caching on the drive as it is "greyed" out on the Policies tab of the drive properties. I have also tried through the device manger, without success. Is there a way to desable this in the registry? I have looked at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System \CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanman server\Parameters which many sites recommend setting the value to 0. My question is what "item" in this registry setting must be set to 0? Am I on the right track to solve the problem? Do you have any other solutions? Than…

when i recieve an e-mail that is a video file, it wont open it.. it tells me to create an association in my folder options control panel...,That all sounds fine but it doesnt tell me how to do it! ive looked everywhere in my folder control panel and cant seem to work out how to do it, could someone PLEASE HELP!

Computer No Longer Goes Into Standby

For years I have set my computer to go into standby when unused for a period of time (30 minutes) for some reason it has stopped going into standby. The monitor goes to sleep and I can hear the hdd attempting to disconnect but it will not go into a complete standby state. If I click "Start\Turn Off Computer\Standby" it still will not go into standby as it did several weeks ago. I have another computer set up essentially the same way and it continues to function as I have set it up. I am at wits end to figure it out. I can usually find the cause to these little inconveniences but this one has me baffled. I am beginning to suspect a hardware problem i.e. power supp…

My computer just started crashing consistently, BSOD with the message "BAD_SPOOL_CALLER" and tech info. Puter is Dell (something I quickly regretted), XP sp2, five user accounts, two with passwords. I am locked out of my personal account off and on, crash unexpectedly when I am in. Ditto admin. I did a system restore from admin, but it did not help. Can anyone shed some light on this. I have been unable to unearth anything useful other than the fact that I am not the only one this has happened to.

Spiralfrog uninstall when not in add/remove list ???

Spiralfrog is taking up 120megs of RAM, more than I can afford. So I want to uninstall it. Their web site says use control panel -> add/remove programs. But SpiralFrog does not show up in the add/remove list. Any idea how to get rid of it? Thanks, Chas' Win XP Pro

RAID mirror degraded, replaced drive, now wgalogon hangs

Hello, I have an IDE primary drive (c:) and a SATA RAID 1 as programs & data drive. The raid is an intel southbridge raid controller on the motherboard. My RAID contains my d: and e: drives which contain Program Files and all user data. One of the SATA drives of the RAID died. So I purchased a new identical 160 Gig drive and replaced the bad drive. With the intel RAID controller the array is rebuilt in the OS not the BIOS. So I have to boot the machine into WinXP in order to rebuild the array. Ok, so here lies the rub. can't delete file on desktop

I downloaded a file on my desktop which didn't complete the first time. I tried again later and it did complete alright. Now I'm stuck with a 0 byte file on my desktop which I can't delete, even in safe mode: "this file is being used by another person or program". Any idea? Dear all, click my computer -> tools menu -> folder options -> view tab. I want to choose "Show hidden files and folders". But no use after apply as it still choose "Do not Show hidden files and folders" The user is administrator. Why it prohibit me to choose "Show hidden files and folders"?
