There are a number of programs listed in the Add or Remove Programs menu in Control Panel that don't have a Change or Remove button. Probably more than half of the listed programs are missing the button(s). These are all active programs, and many do not have a remove option in the Start/All Programs either. One that I want to remove right now is the Apple Safari browser for Windows. I have Googled for help with this, and the only thing I have seen is to uninstall it in Add or Remove Programs, which is exactly what I can't do. How can I delete these programs and/or get the Remove button back in Add or Remove Programs? Using Windows XP Pro SP3.

Windows XP SP3 My computer was going extremely slow and begining to become un useable. I read some of the replies to similar problems so I uninstalled the Norton Security, downloaded AVG anti-virus and anti spyware from Windows. I turned the computer off then on again the next day and it worked with no problems for an hour then the extreme slowness returned. What else can be causing it?

Help! Have been digging deep into wife's computer and am stumped. She is running Windows XP on a Toshiba Satellite. She unfortunately got stuck with Vista Virus 2008 (i think that's what it was) It kept popping up windows and blocking all attempts to remove. I ran Spybot and Ad-Aware and finally SmitfraudFix. Nothing worked so I eventually used system restore to reset the computer to two weeks prior. Since then, however, I have not been able to connect to the internet. We use a wireless router and cable modem and it shows them all connected and other computers in the house are able to connect. When I dug into System Information I see the following messag…

After a few of our pc's loaded sp3 the next day the users are booting up to a blank desktop, no menu, icons, nothing. We removed sp3 through the recovery mode and ran the repair. Still nothing. The only solution we found was to remove the HD, backup folders and reformat. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi - can anyone tell me why my Windows Task Manager has lost its top blue bar, its File/Options/View/Help drop downs below and its Apps/Processes/Perf/Networking tabs ? All I get is a box with open applications in it and the only way I can close it is to right click on the green icon in the task bar to get <close>. Thanks in advance, chrissyd.

I've decided to stop the service associated to it (DNS client) and wants to know if there'll be any problems at all? Especially with my net-surfing? Cheers!

'Net access limited
by Guest PaulPar- 6 replies

I can't access the Web, iTunes and a Telnet talker I visit. However, Skype and Outlook mail seem just fine. This happened suddenly last night. I tried system restore and both times I got a message saying system restore did not work. I've rebooted my computer, wireless router and cable box numerous times. My wireless desktop icons report that connectivity and speed are just fine. Why can I access some apps and not others? Could it be that my XP is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled? If so, is this a difficult process?
