Hello All, Right to the issue at hand. I have a user who did a search on her hard disk for pictures. She found over 9,500+ photos. Now when she double-click on an image and views it in WP&FV that fine, but to now go and print the image, she is seeing ALL those photos as for some reason, they are all showing up in the Print Selection window. Now I have cleared her Temp folder, Internet Temp folder, and all the other temporary storage I could find. I've searched the hard disk again to see if I will be able to find where the files are located. I've load internet explorer and deleted ALL files. But when I go back into WP&FV and go to print, the i…

Boot Question on XP Reinstall
by Guest marina- 3 replies

I believe I have all the info I need to to a clean reinstall of Windows XP Home Upgrade, but I have one remaining question. My OEM OS on this machine is Windows ME. To do a clean format and reinstall should I boot up from my Windows ME boot floppy or from the Windows XP Home Upgrade CD? Will the Upgrade CD reformat for me or do I need something to show ME was previously on the computer? The instructions I've read on doing a reinstall have left me confused!

In my attempt to stop having to log in to my XP Home Edition Machine I deleted all users except the administrator and left the user must enter a user name and password to use this computer option selected. Now when the computer boots up it goes to the welcome window/logon screen and sits there with no user button waiting for me to select something that isn't there. I can't get into my system. My only option is to shut down. How do I fix this problem?

I have Win XP Pro on physical disk c and Win Server 2003 on a different physical disk. I reformatted the drive containing Windows Server 2003 but the boot up menu containing "an earlier version of Windows" and "Windows Server" still remains. How do I get rid of this boot up menu altogether? This is my boot.ini for WinXP on c: but I don't see a reference to Windows Server in there. ;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems. ;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options. ; [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDO…

Wireless doesn't work anymore: "Limited or no connectivity"
by Guest void.no.spam.com@gmail.com- 7 replies

I have a Windows XP SP2 laptop, which connected to my network wirelessly. It worked fine, until I uninstalled a bunch of apps that I didn't need anymore, and then it stopped working. Whenever it tries to connect to my wireless network now, it connects, but then it can't get an IP address for some reason. It just says "Limited or no connectivity." The only thing I uninstalled that was related to wireless was something called a "Venturi Client". I didn't think that was related to wifi, I thought it was for a wireless modem that I used at a previous job. Anyways, I'm using the built-in Windows Zero Wireless utility, so nothing I uninstalled should have affec…

Remote assistance
by Guest James- 1 reply

Why doesn't microsoft make it clear about whether remote assistance requests can be accepted in XP home. The information in various tech forums is very contradictory. From my own experiments I can say that it is only possible to accept help requests if you are running XP Pro - you can only send them in XP home. I think this needs clarification once and for all from microsoft.

Missing Bluetooth Support
by Guest Lunaray- 2 replies

I'm running XP Home edition w/SP2 and according to what I've read, I should have a Bluetooth icon in my Control Panel, nor do I have any native Windows drivers installed for Bluetooth, absolutely nothing on my computer related to Bluetooth. I found an article on Microsoft's website that tells me how to add a Bluetooth entry in the registry, if you're missing the icon in the Control Panel, but it didn't work! (article #911894). How can I add the missing Bluetooth support to my computer? Thanks, Ray

Integer Problem?
by Guest rdarne- 5 replies

I have a strange problem with numbers on a computer in my office. It appears as though integer values are not recognized. For instance, Access has a version number of 18.4. On this computer, it shows as 18.45649382 (not exactly, but a long decimal number). In an Access form that counts records, all numbers have a long decimal after them. This also occurs in a webstore form that a user can enter a price for a product. When you try to enter 110 or 110.00, it tells you that it must be an integer. If you add many decimal points (110.003344566) it will recognize and accept this number. I think this may also affect MS Outlook, which has this header atop ever…

Does windows XP update ever reboot automatically?
by Guest Stan Hilliard- 1 reply

XP Yesterday: I use windows XP automatic updating. I shutdown the PC overnight. Often the update is applied when I shut down the PC. But yesterday I clicked a button on the usual messagebox that instructed it to shutdown without updating. XP Today: I started the PC and started Fprot anti virus manually, which takes about 1/2 hour on my PC. When I later returned to the PC the screen was at the windows logon screen. The system had logged me off. During login, I got a balloon message that windows had done an automatic update & had restarted the computer. I have never seen it update automatically aromatically before. Is this normal or might something els…
