Windows Integrated Authentication broken
by Guest Dale- 5 replies
I have an XP PRO SP3 system on which Integrated Authentication is broken. When I try to access a network resource on my Windows 2003 domain the system always asks me to supply the password. I can click the "Save Password" option in the dialog box and that works for a while. This is a problem in connecting with the Exchange server, file server and webserver so it is not protocol specific. I also doublechecked that IE 7 has "Integrated Authentication" checked. This only happens for one computer. All the others are fine? Any ideas?

There is a very strange situation about sound (under Vista). Windows Media Player gives sound not for all mp3 files. For some mp3 files progress bar moves, visualization works, but there is no sound. For other mp3 files all works properly and there is normal sound. On the same computer Sony Forge plays any mp3 files without a problem. Can somebody help me? Thank you Lev

403 Forbidden error - access control list
by Guest JohnP- 1 reply

Windows XP Home, SP 2; IE 7, version 7.0.5730.11. When I open IE, I cannot access the internet. In the tab that opens it reads, "403 Forbidden", and on the web page it reads, "You were denied access because: Access denied by access control list". I do have internet access since Widows Update has downloaded and installed updates and my anti-virus software has also updated itself. I have reset all IE settings to factory defaults. I have gone to Start -> Set Program Access and Defaults and reset it every-which-way to make IE the default browser and it seems to keep reseting itself to Custom -> Use Current Web Browser. Did I inadvertently screw-…

when I open windows explorer it just hangs with a partial window. I have to us Task manager to close it down. I use a link with the following explorer /e, /n, d:\ in the command line. If I take out the switches it works fine without a folders pane. If I click FOLDERS on the toolbar it hangs again If I open it with the orignal link in the start menu everything works fine. I'm puzzled.

Windows Task Switcher
by Guest ed9213- 2 replies

Recently the most recent app used goes to the end of the Task Switcher (ALT+TAB) window on my screen instead of the #1 or #2 position. I either have to use ALT+SHIFT+TAB to get to it, or ALT+TAB through all the running apps to get to the last one. Is this correctable? Thanks. -- ed

SP3 and mmc snap-in
by Guest Lil' Dave- 6 replies

So what's the fix for the mmc snap-in for diskeeper version 8.0459 after installing SP3? One google search result said to reinstall. Another was to invoke mmc via cmd, and open file to invoke application name for snap-in. Nothing in diskeeper.com support FAQs. App still defrags, just can't open it a 2nd time in same windows session. IE opens instead????????? -- Dave

OT: HP J6410 driver problem...
by Guest RJK- 0 replies

3 or 4 couple of weeks ago, I dug around this horrid HP J6410 XP driver to set it for A4 - to solve a problem with paper size i.e. the defaults set in it were for American "Letter" sized paper, and invoicing software print-out was out of position. To correct that, I set A4 paper size in 3 places, (in the HP driver), in "Printing Preferences" and "Properties." Yesterday, after abandoning the idea of "transplanting" an aged XP Home platform onto significantly different and newer hardware, e.g. http://www.theeldergeek.com/replace_motherboard.htm I took the "preferred," but, more time consuming, route of a fresh XP install, adn reinstalling EVERYTHING :-(…
