Divide by Zero Exception Code 0xc0000094
by Guest mpdd- 2 replies
I have an OKI printer that has been hooked directly to my computer with a USB cable for 4 months; today it stopped working. I searched for all OKI files and deleted all of them, re-installed all the drivers and I am still getting the error 0xc0000094 which I believe is a divide by zero error. I'm running XP pro and just downloaded SP3 thinking that might fix the problem but it didn't either. I have an older HP printer hooked up also. It continues to work just fine with no problems. Can anyone help me?

Re: Help - My DVD Burner suddenly thinks it a CD only
by Guest Doug W.- 1 reply

Re: Help - My DVD Burner suddenly thinks it a CD only Further to this "problem": IF one examines the drive by double-clicking "my computer" and then switches the disks from CD to DVD, the DVD disk will not initialize until AFTER Windows Explorer is closed. A subsequent re-opening of Windows Explorer then shows the DVD as having been initialized and listed. Perhaps this scenario was in play with Perry's experience...or maybe not. - "Doug W." <stand@attention> wrote in message news:... > These drives can be tricky at times. Problem after shutting lid
by Guest sambrea- 4 replies
Hi, I have recently encountered a problem with my system, where after shutting the lid of my laptop to rest for a period of time because i have to go away, it no longer is able to encounter my family's wireless network, so i have to shut the computer completely off and restart it. It's a pain in the neck and has just recently started doing this, starting after 3 or 4 shuts, but now it's down to one. It's just plain annoying because I might have things I'm doing online that I don't want to lose the place of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I need to reapir or reinstall Services for UNIX 3.5 on an XP SP2 box. This system has had SFU for several years. As of today, I keep getting dialogs: Windows Installer Preparing to install [Cancel] followed imediately by Windows Installer The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. [OK] [Cancel] Insert the 'Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX' disk and click OK. Use source: <dropdown>[Please inert disk labeled 'Windows Services for UNIX Installation Disk"] </dropdown> [browse...] over the top of the first dialog. old software on xp
by Guest NTAdmin- 0 replies

I use an older office suite called Arkose Works. The underlying software was previously called Perfectworks and before that Word Perfect Works. I like it because it is simple and doesn't try to mess up your formatting by anticipating what you want to do. The simple database interface is also easy to work with. I also have thousands of files saved in wpw format. The software was designed for win95 and I've used it on 98, win2k and xphomesp1 with no problems. It's also working on a Vista laptop. However, I'm having problems on two xp pro boxes, one a gateway PIII-400 sp2 and the other a Dell P4-2ghz sp3. I have two problems. 1. I create a new do…

remove DLA? (Windows DVD burning utility)
by Guest Matt- 4 replies
Please have mercy for the cross-posting, but I want to get a breadth of opinions. DLA is supposed to be able to make the discs it writes compatible with about any drive. I'm having trouble burning DVD-Rs on XP Pro (on an IBM ThinkCentre desktop) so that the discs can be read by Linux using the same drive (I'm dual booting). I try to disable DLA for the drive (DVD-Multi), but every time I insert a new disc, I find DLA re-enabled. A little esearch reveals that DLA seems to have conflicts with a lot of software, eg Nero, MS Backup, and upgrade to Vista. Also I've read that there are big reliability issues. To be blunt it seems basically obnoxious, …

Taskbar not holding minimized url pages
by Guest George- 4 replies

Windows XP SP2, with IE6. Don't know if this is a Windows or a browser problem, but thought I should post here first. If I have a webpage minimized on the taskbar and then open a second url, the minimized url disappears from the taskbar; likewise if I minimize the second url to the taskbar, the first minimized url disappears also, and is replaced by the second url. If the second minimized is a file or folder from the hard drive, then the problem doesn't occur, in other words words, only a second webpage (url) will cause the problem. I've looked all over for the setting that controls this, but can't find it. Any pointers/fixes will be appreciated.…

Stop Error when replacing Motherboard, how to fix this
by Guest Bill Simard- 9 replies
I am replacing my motherboard on my XP PRO machine. The last time I did this I got a Stop 0X000000 error and after much searching found the cause was the IDE controller being different. I had to reinstall XP from the CD and that wipes out all my updates and some of my programs, including my anti-virus, causing me to have to reinstall, which is a big hassle and takes weeks to get everything back up and running again. I have heard a rumor that there are 2 files, that if deleted before the motherboard is replaced, XP will detect the new IDE controller and rebuild these 2 files and I will not need to re-do all the windows updates and will not have to rein…

One last question for the night: I went to the Acronis site and read the specs for True Image 11 Home--which say that True Image supports Windows XP SP2. There's no mention of SP3, which is what I have. Has anyone using this program encountered any conflicts with SP3? Thank you! Jo-Anne

? regarding device manager
by Guest michael- 1 reply

I have a motherboard (ASUS IPIBL-LA) on an HP computer (M9040N) that was intended for vista. I don't like vista so I wiped it clean and installed xp home. With the help of forums I found drivers for everything so my device manager is clean. My original intent for this computer was something fast for HD video editing. Is my system going to function at 100% or could it be compromised not using the intended OS. If the device manager shows no problems then can I assume everything is OK?

Norton Ghost Version 14
by Guest Sarah Kateley- 5 replies

Does any one know how to create a boot disk (or boot CD) to image a HD without starting XP or Vista. In older versions, one was able to create a boot-disk with ghost32.exe on it and it was possible to image the HD within 20 to 25 minutes and save the image files on CDs/DVDs. I have now got version 14 but there isn't a wizard to do this and also I can't find anywhere how to image the HD. It is all about copy, backup or recovery CD but I want a complete replica of my HD so that recovery is easier like in the old versions.

I have some USB flash drives that I'd like to image - just in case I screw them up or lose them - but I can't find any software that backs up USB flash drives as complete images. Some of my drives have several partitions, so the USB drive needs to be imaged completely - just like you can do with an internal hard drive. I have Acronis True Image Home 11 but it won't even see the USB flash drives. Have you seen software used to image USB drives? jim

Right-click one specific folder... is very slow
by Guest Jordon- 2 replies

I've read a lot of previous posts about right-clicking folders hanging the computer but this isn't quite the same thing. I have just one folder that this happens to and it doesn't hang the computer, it just takes 20 minutes to display the context menu. And it only happens on the newest computer I've purchased, a HP DC7700 Core Duo E4400. I got it a few days ago. No other computers on the network have this problem. The folder is a shared folder on another computer on the network. Both computers are XP Pro SP2 and are part of a domain running AD. I have administrator rights on both machines. The XP firewall is turned off on both. During this 20 minute …
