Hello, I have my original Windows disk. XP (Gold) and a download of SP3. The download is 316MB and identified as a Self-Extracting Cabinet, Windows-Kb 936929. Can I slipstream this SP3 & my XP(Gold) to create a bootable Windows XPSP3 install CD? I'll be using nLight or Autostreamer for the slipstream process. Is there something I have to do with the SP3 download before slipstreaming it to my XP? Thanks for any help

hi, my win XP computer have been acting strange after I did a clean install. here's what happened: I have a flash drive and saved some pictures from a friend's computer, I then plugged the flash drive to my PC. I copied an pasted the pictures and placed them on the "my documents" folder. I unplugged the flash drive and tried to view the pictures...I can' seem to open the pictures. An error appeared saying it cannot find something. It worked fine before doing a clean install. something must have been disabled, I'm not sure. Please help. Thanks a lot. And thank you to the people who have helped me in the past. :)

by Guest Chris B- 1 reply

I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. My PC stopped yesterday (06-02-08) at the so-called BAD_POOL_HEADER Blue Screen of Death. It absolutely stopped. I pressed and held the start button until the PC shut down. Then I restarted it and and it worked okay. Then I ran CheckDisk and it has been working okay for a day. This is the first time I have had this with blue. I had one similar with a white background and regular print. (can't remember for sure about text details of this past event, but, it was several weeks ago) The error message: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. BAD_…

Permission issue?

I gave my other desktop to my son to use. It is running XP Home with SP2 and IE7. My account, an administrator account, has no problems. Adobe Flash Player works fine and I can view a YouTube video. His account, a limited account, seems to have problems. Flash player does not work and when he attempts to view a YouTube video he gets only a smaller, empty box where the video should be showing. The box shows that the video is loading but nothing ever loads. I have changed his account to an administrator account and the problem remains. I have deleted his account and created a new account and the problem persists. I have also installed the Flash Player …

Proxy Settings Greyed Out - How to Change?
by Guest News\\- 2 replies

Some of the users on my network have set their LAN connection settings (Internet Settings - Connections - LAN - Proxy Settings) to a proxy server (Kproxy). But now I can't change the settings back because they are greyed out. I cannot edit the registry when logged in under their accounts (due to permissions) so I have to log in as myself. In some registrys I can find the "proxy server - http://Kproxy.com" key that I can delete to clear the setting, but on others I cannot. Has anyone had an issue like this before? I need a way to clear those settings, but I can't import a registry .reg file to edit them while logged in as the user, because they are not …

Complicated problem involving Windows XP SP3, WinFax Pro 10. Excel 2000, Word 2000 and printers upon which I would some help. The problem became apparent this morning when I selected WinFax in the drop down File menu in a Word document. Normally this sends an attachment to WinFax Pro. You add the name of the recipient and their fax number and click on Send. This morning clicking on WinFax in Word generated a Runtime Error 5140 -Word cannot Print. There is no printer installed. After nosing around I decided to uninstall WinFax Pro and then had a lot of difficulty reinstalling. Eventually I succeeded. I can now send and receive faxes but when received the faxe…

using other machine's modem
by Guest dijxtra- 2 replies

Hello everybody, Is there a way to use modem on machine A from machine B? We have computer A with a modem and this program named Witerm (bought from wilmers.com) which uses good old dial-up modem on COM port to connect to some GSM stations which then tell him what is speed of wind. Then I have computer B which doesn't have a dial-up modem and which is connected with computer A by TCP/IP LAN. Now we would like to move our program to computer B. Our program does not use IP for communicating so we cannot just route traffic through computer A. What we need to do is make program on computer B use modem on COM port of computer A. Is that even possible? Regard…
