Hello! I reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP3. Local accounts work fine. But domain accounts do not have access to many files in the c:\Windows and c:\Program files folders and cannot load a profile. I had given the domain accounts the administrative rights on my computer. The security tab in the files properties show the administrative group has full access to the files. But when I double-click on the files a message appears that the account does not have the access: "C:\windows\system32\wupdmgr.exe Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Uninstalling SP3 allows access to file…

Hi: I am able to use the SONY DRU-830A for all functions reading and writing to standard DVD+ and DVD DL with no problems. I am unable to write to a DVD+RW. Whenever I check the Properties of the disk drive, I am told it is FULL. I have tried this on other drives with the same FULL report. It appears it is OS dependent. BTW, it works AOK on my laptop with VISTA. Any ideas?? John

Regional settings to english only still runs IMEs
by Guest Mike H- 0 replies

When this computer was set up, supplemental language support was enabled in regional options for right-to-left, script, and east asian languages. I think that setting loaded IMJPMIG and two instances of TINTSETP. Subsequently, those options were un-ticked and English is the only language listed for text services. However, those three programs just mentioned continue to load. Am I safe removing them from registry run keys, or is it possible that something else remains to be done in the switch back to English only which would have removed these keys automatically? Using XP SP3 Professional. This machine was previously on a domain and is now a standalone. …

For whatever the reason you prefer, or must have, XP SP3 on CD from MS; see this weblink. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389/ Cost is 3.99 plus shipping/handling/taxes. -- Dave Bailout: Friend, relative, business acquaintance paying a sum to get the accused out of jail until court is ready to proceed. Bailout: U.S. taxpayers paying a sum of money for some critical business failure that was fleecing the taxpayer to begin with. Somehow, the word "bailout" seems very different.

Will Microsoft JVM be uninstalled after Service Pack 3 installed?
by Guest Eran Karu- 2 replies

I have a CD of Service Pack 3 and Microsoft JVM Removal Tool 1.0a as well. I plan to make clean install of Windows XP Service Pack 1 soon (Microsoft JVM is not uninstalled yet.) Then I will install Service Pack 3. However, I wonder whether Microsoft Java Virtual Machine will be uninstalled after Service Pack 3 installed. If it will not be uninstalled, should I use Microsoft JVM Removal Tool to uninstall it after Service Pack 3 installed? Or, should I better do it before Service Pack 3 installed? -- Thanks, Eran Karu

by Guest Peter- 0 replies

I was wanting to know, pls, if I can somehow automate some functions that windows explorer does. Perhaps there is some code I could write that does the following for me instead of clicking my way through windows explorer. Problem: I have hundreds of folders. Each folder contains .wav files. The no of wav. files varies from folder to folder. The name of each folder is an integer as is the name of each .wav file. Each folder name is unique. Each ..wav name is unique. Aim: I want to "strip" all the .wav files from their location within each folder and put all the .wav files into one folder. The single folder i end up with will have all the .wav files t…

I would gladly see microsoft suffer for the stupid crappy Vista they dared to unleash upon the world.... They even DARE to try to promote it (vista) more after everyone is glad its dying! Hate? No... Disgust? HELL YEAH! http://keznews.com/4663_Windows_will_be_killed_by_virtual_appliances:_VMware_exec_ Large commercial operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, will no longer exist within five to ten years, according to a senior VMware executive. I have read you can have up to 10-users connected to file-shares in XP Pro. Does this same limitation apply to Socket connections or any other type of network connection or is it just file-shares? I have an app that needs to serve data to more than 10 clients, do I need to get a server license to do this?

I bought a rebuild computer from a second hand store that had XP Home (service pack 3) pre-installed on it. This morning my master drive siezed so I had to go and buy a new hard drive. I installed a (lagit) copy of Windows '95 and (ligit) XP Home Upgrade that I already owned, and when I went to input the product key from the old operating system the key came back invalid. So I used the product key from the copy of XP I had just installed. It also came back invalid. I have a little book with all the product keys I have ever used in it. one of them eventualy came through as valid. Everything was going good until I tried to install updates. The validati…

"Using hdparm in limited user accounts" or "starting progs with adminrights before waking up from hibernation" Hi everybody, I am using the programm hdparm to modify the settings of my HDD (especially Advanced Power Management). This program works fine, but has to be executed in each session. This is no problem, because it can simply be but into a batch file and placed in the start-up folder. However, I frequently use limited user accounts. Here, the command does not work. It terminates with "hda: Permission denied". Is there an option to let windows execute the command before I log into the limited user account and thus to keep the option set while I work …

I have two questions: 1. Outlook 2003 came installed on my computer in 2006 but I cannot find the disc. I have purchased 2007 and successfully installed it. Now I need to remove 2003 but cannot because it is asking for the disc to complete the uninstall. What can I do? 2. My inbox had a hiccup this morning. For some reason the screen is filled with the inbox and I cannot ready any of the messages without double clicking on a message to open up another window. I used to have the inbox messages above and at least part of the message at the bottom of the screen. I know that line is movable but I can't even find the line to adjust it. What did I…

Hello, I have a group of PDF files. I would like to string all of these files together under a new filename. I have Adobe pdf reader but was unable to find an application which would string these files together. I think there was a way of doing this using the old DOS Cmd line, but I can't remember the command. -- Thanks, Tony For replies, please correct my email address.
