by Guest MarcusB- 3 replies

We have 300 computers and soon we will change part of them, but we have problem to choose graphic card for the new ones. What we can gain buing more advanced card? We had AGP Matrox milennium with 32MB RAM. I tested some new ATI and NVidia card with 512 MB RAM, both with DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 and I do not see the difference besides that the last ones get more hot and need better cooling. What is all about this stupid mess with graphic cards? Who need faster one than those with AGP contact. I tested also some cards at my home computer with PCIexpressx16 and I really do not see any difference in speed compared to the AGP cards. At work people are using W…

I have a client using Windows XP Pro SP3. He is connected to a Windows SBS 2003 server domain. The user is using Offline files for a mapped drive on his laptop. There are 2 folders that wont synchronize. I have tried deleting the offline files cache, and resyncing the appropriate files and folders. However the 2 folders still won't synchronize. Can you tell me how I can fix this? Thanks Jim

Performance

MBR error
by Guest Bob Brown- 5 replies

Hi all, I have a question someone might have an answer to. I have a Compaq desktop (4yrs old) running XP sp2 (has now been updated to SP3). At boot up a couple of days ago I got the message "Master Boot Record Error". I hit "enter" and booted up as normal, there were no obvious problems, everything worked ok as it normally does. After looking through the comments on this site and trying some of the suggestions therein, I decide to do a new install. I've found in the past it's good to get rid of all the crap and re-install. After the re-install I got exactly the same message. So I thought I'd try another drive, well I did and got exactly the same error.…

XP is so much better than Vista. Why don't Microsoft just scrap the whole Vista fiasco and stay with XP? IMHO XP is the best OS on the market. Superior to all others. All replies welcome.

Desktop Icons Do Not Load
by Guest rusty7010- 1 reply

When I go to login to my account on the computer, it takes a long time. Then all that shows up is my desktop background. My Icons will not load up. I get an error message. Sometimes I can get on, at other times I can't. I do not remember the exact wording of the error message. I have Windows XP Home, IE7. Also, I keep getting a "reminder" message to install SP3. But before I do they say to do a backup of the system. I haven't installed the SP3 yet as I don't really know how to do a backup. Could this be the reason for my "icon-loading problems"?

The system has been shut down. I cannot get passed this message, even in safe mode. The only option from here is to turn the computer off at the switch. I did a backup of a drive and transferred it to cds (using hjsplit). One of the cds (the 1st in the set) turned out to be bad and the data is lost on it. The drive itself crashed recently (I just found out that the 1st backup disk is bad). Is there a way to get the data from the rest of the disks? Help appreciated.

problems installing iTunes with error 2728
by Guest socceteer- 1 reply

I was trying to upgrade from iTunes 7 to 8, during the end of the installation I got an error 2728. This is the actual message. "the inststaller has encounteredan unexpected error installing this package. This indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2728." Does anyone know how to correct this. I suspected a prgram called Bonjour which is also giving the same error when trying to re-install. Any help would be appreciated Mauricio
