Hi, I have a mixed Windows 2000/2003 domain and I am adding a printer to the directory via a Windows XP machine. This works fine on all machines apart from this one. Any idea why? Just does not show up. Trying to access the printer directly gives me an access denyed error. Thanks

Cookie settings alter on own!
by Guest Andrew- 3 replies

My cookie settings via, Control Panel, Internet Options and Privacy Tab are permanently on Accept All Cookies – no matter what I set it at it always returns to this lowest level of security. I have tried setting it on my normal setting of Medium High, clicking Apply and OK, but on returning it is always on this lower setting. The same occurs on Internet Explorer’s Internet Options via Tools. Could malware have altered a setting that prevents my Medium High security? Please help - Andrew

Eliminate Recovery Partition_Recover Main Volume
by Guest mark4man- 2 replies

So... My (recently new) audio workstation...mfg.'d by ADK...came w/ Paragon *Drive Backup* (8.1)...which I can utilize to backup my entire local drive content (OS/programs/files & folders) to a dedicated recovery capsule...(which I believe is located on a dedicated partition). What I would like to do...(because I have 2 external hard drives, capable of backing up everything I have)...is: 1st; ELIMINATE that recovery capsule. Then...I would like to recover that partition to the volume...so as to add it's space to the available, writable area of the entire local drive (i.e., only have one main partition). I DO have the XP bible (Bott & Seichert)...…

Getting rid of PowerToy Virtual Desktop Manager
by Guest Jeff@unknown.com- 3 replies
I installed PowerToy's Virtual Desktop Manager and after playing with it for a while I decided to uninstall it. (I should have listened to you P.A. Bear). So I went to the Add/Remove Programs and removed it from there. BUT, it seems to still be there. When I right click on the Taskbar and click on Toolbars, its toolbar is still there - and still works!! I rebooted: no change, it is still there. Is it possible to get rid of PowerToy's Virtual Desktop Manager? I would prefer to not use Restore because I have installed other programs since. Jeff

I am attempting to boot a computer running Windows XP Pro and it will show the Windows is starting up screen then proceeds to the choose the username screen. When I choose the username, the computer immediately shuts down. I have tried to boot the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and get the same response. This occurred after running the Computer Associates Anti-Virus program and defragmenting the machine. Any suggestions as to resolution of this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -- CBC

I'm sure everybody but me got the word. Why, when I install Windows on a clean drive, and create 2 partitions, does it leave 8MB at the top unpatritioned. I partitioned a drive with Paragon HD manager and it did not do that. Does Windoz actually use this or is it just a doz thing? Will it work if I use the Paragon partitions? thx

Network Connection Failure
by Guest Marina- 0 replies

I have a similar problem as Maurice. I have two XP computers networked. After the Microsoft update I lost connectivity on the Host computer, but could still access internet on Client computer. After downloading the latest version of Zone Alarm Security Suite and reloading the MS update, now my client computer cannot access internet. I get an invalid IP address that cannot be repaired. I have tried disabling ZA on Host computer, but client still will not connect. Client computer has Windows firewall on, btw. It is not an adapter problem on the client, since I can connect to the internet using an unprotected wireless network. The client computer does…
