Declining an Auto Update
by Guest Richard Fangnail- 5 replies

If you have AU set to "Notify Me" and then you uncheck the update so that it doesn't install, will it reappear the next time there is another update? (I'm thinking of SP3 which I plan to decline.) I am aware on the AU setup screen there is a button to show hidden updates you have declined before.

Sliding TOoltips Broken??
by Guest Somebody- 0 replies

You know how there are 2 animation types for the tooltips? Fade and Scroll/Slide? Fade works just fine on my XP and Win2k3 boxes, but the scroll/slide doesn't. The tooltips on the frame buttons (minimize, maximize & close buttons) scroll/slide fine, but none of the others do. I wrote a test MFC app, and turns out that if I limit my app to ComCtrl v5.8, the scroll/slide tooltips work, but with ComCtrl v6.0, they just come up with no animations. Other apps behave the same way too, so it must have been broken with one of the recent patches, because I'm pretty damn sure I tested my app with it.

What could be the cause
by Guest Paul- 9 replies

If you get a BSOD, but there's no text?? On the other computer here, this has happened 2-3 times in the last 2-3 weeks. It seems to be intermittent. Sometimes, it'll bring up a BSOD with the drivers / stop error etc, and sometimes, the screen is blue and blank, and there's nothing on the screen? I'm pretty sure the main cause, is the ATI drivers. But, I've tried the ATI drivers, and ASUS drivers. BOTH crash. The funny thing is, I've installed and use both on this system, and its never crashed It has only crashed whle playing games like bejeweled, Gin, and te other day on a website, while the person was on it. The games are that graphic intensive…

Hi: I just noticed that when going to format one of my flash drive that it shows File System as Fat 32 for the drive. I am running Windows XP MCE(2005) with NFTS file system. Why does the flash drive indicate File System Fat 32 and what is the significance of using it with my NFTS file system? As far as I know I have been able to save files to it and then transfer to NFTS file system with no problems. Thanks

Error message when logging off Windows XP
by Guest VeryBusyMom- 7 replies

Hello! Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. On one of my computers, which has Windows XP, I get the following message almost everytime I log off: "Instruction at 0X02d51611 referenced memory at 0X02d51611. The memory could not be read." Click ok to terminate. Click cancel to debug. What does this mean and how can I fix this problem? When I click either option, it automatically logs off with no problems. What could be causing this error message to pop up almost everytime I try logging off? Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you.

Why is it better to scan for malware/spyware in safe mode as opposed to normal windows? I have noticed that people *do* make that distinction, and I've often wondered why.

WinXP Install To F: Not C:
by Guest Paputxi- 3 replies

I just installed WinXP on a drive that contained a partition containing Linux. When I installed WinXP (into it's own partition), it identified the partition as F: not C:. Three questions: 1) Can I reassign the F: to C: without having to reinstall WinXP and all the applications I have installed (which indicates everything is on F: not C:). 2) If I move the WinXP partition to another drive, will it still show as F: or C:? 3) How would I go about changing the drive from F: to C:? Thanks in advance.
