Help with Sony Laptop power issue
by Guest george- 3 replies
When I attempt to power it up (battery only) I get no lights and it doesn't power up. When I plug in the AC adapter it turns on right away but the date goes back to 2000 and time was screwed up. I go into control panel, date/time and plug in the correct date/time and everything is peachy. Again, if I pull out the AC Adapter while the laptop is on, it remains on. > * The laptop is a *Sony Vaio, Model PCG-7A2L.Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions would be appreaciated, TIA -- --------------------------------- --- -- - Posted with NewsLeecher v3.9 Final Web @ http://www.newsleecher.com/?usenet ------------------- ----- ---- -- -

After SP3 uninstall, Start Menu won't load completely
by Guest Craig- 5 replies

I recently had to uninstall SP3 because of several issues that I couldn't resolve. Now when I boot up it takes me 2-3 tries to get the Start Menu to fully load. Sometimes it won't load at all and sometimes it will only partially load. Short of a Repair Install of XP, what can I do?

Connection Time-out
by Guest MaryEllen- 8 replies

This may seem like a simple problem but I just can't seem to get things to work. My husbands computer was working fine yesterday, this morning he can't connect to the internet even though his computer is showing that he has a connection. We only get a "The connection has timed out" message. I've tried everything including running a virus scan and can't get it to connect. Any suggestions?

and anotheer prediction while we are at it...

Ms wants to persuade everyone and mostly companies that somehow now just by magic, vista is a good product and there is no reason to hold back by still using XP, and there is no reason to wait for windows7. Well my prediction is that they will fail so bad it will be hilarious You can trick a few people lots of times, you can also trick a lot of people a few times.. but Sorry Microsoft, you cant trick lots of people lots of times. Vista is dead, no one like its and it doesn't matter how much new $$$ you push into advertising this flop, it will never be trusted, and for good reason. No matter how hard microsoft tries, tricks, lies, and other crap, Vista wil…

LSASS.EXE No entry point found
by Guest Matthew Sharlot- 1 reply

Hi, OK got an XP SP2 machine running as a client on SBS2003. All of a sudden it has just decided not to start. I get a blank screen with a dialogue box stating it can't find an entry point in RPCRT4.dll - click OK and that's it; nothing else happens. Found a couple of similar problems when searching around but none that reference RPCRT4.dll. Renamed to .old and expanded the file from the install CD to see if this would work, but no joy. Basically knowing which way up a CD goes is about my limit when it comes to windows and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions other than a fresh install? TIA

mkdir creates file instead of directory ...
by Guest Joe HM- 5 replies

Hello - I have this strange intermittent problem where a mkdir command in a batch file will create a file with the name of a directory instead of the directory itself. This has happened for several people and I have no clue what is causing it. Here is the code ... if not exist "C:\Program Files\X" mkdir "C:\Program Files\X" if not %ERRORLEVEL% == 0 goto error if not exist "C:\Program Files\X\Y" mkdir "C:\Program Files\X\Y" if not %ERRORLEVEL% == 0 goto error Could this be because I am creating two directories or is this a bug with mkdir? I/we have XP SP2. Thanks, Joe
