Tape Eject command using RSM eject
by Guest CLarke- 0 replies
In my backup scripts for Windows 2003 server we use rsm eject /LF"Library_id" /Astart and it ejects the tapoe all the time. When I send the same in Windows XP it says Additional arguments required. I have no idea what additional arguments are required. It is an HP USB DAT 72 Tape Drive, and it works perfectly on a Windows 2003 server, but not on Windows XP. I even tried the Guid and changing the command to /LG"GUID" but it still says additional arguments required. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Screen keeps flickering? Can anyone Help?
by Guest Scottishlass- 2 replies

Hope someone can help me. My Screen has been flickering for the last week and its driving me insane! It looks like lots of lines flickering. I have refreshed the screen rate and that helped a little but then it just went back to flickering. I have checked the cables and they are fine. I tried the monitor on a different computer and it flickered on that also. Does anyone know what my problem is and how I can fix this. I also tried to restore my computer and it kept saying it was unable to do so. Thanking you in advance.

For some reason when I go into my MSN account, I cannot access my emails. I can send but not receive. If I login into hotmail.com, I can access my email and work it that way. I spent about 90 minutes online with MSN and they came to the conclusion I have a problem with IE. They uninstalled it and reinstalled it but to no avail. They said I had to contact Microsoft. Anybody have a solution before I put out the $59 for help? Please email me at wallmann33@msn.com and I will access it thru hotmail.com Thank you. Larry Potter wallmann33@msn.com PS: I did install the IE pack 3 this evening, but I still cannot access my email directly thru MSN I ha…

Moving User Accounts
by Guest Skippybox- 2 replies

I would like to ONLY move my user account and I've read the article, "An error message informs you that you cannot move or rename the Documents and Settings folder" at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314843/en-us. Does the procedure of updating the path in the ProfileImagePath sub-key under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList registry key automatically update all the other registry keys that also use my profiles path? If not, is this solely so Windows knows where my profile is during logon? If so, do I have to update all references to my profiles path in the registry, even though the article only mentions doin…

XP Pro (Gold?) and SP3 1 2
by Guest ClueLess- 49 replies

Hi All I see many posts stating that SP3 can be installed only after applying either SP1 or SP2 I have already successfully slipstreamed SP3 on XP-SP2 and made a fresh install which went smoothly, no problems. Today I tried with my original XP Pro (Retail) and the slipstreaming with nLite went without any warning or hitch. That means, AFAICS, update.exe did not check whether XP was with either SP1 or SP2. Since I have no spare hard disk I did not try to install it and see if there is a problem. Having slipstreamed I believe there should be no problem. I will get a new hard disk and install this weekend and come back. Meantime if anyone has more in…

Keep losing the fax function
by Guest Derek Peters- 0 replies

Over the last three months or so the fax facility has been playing up. When I attempt to launch it from Winword the wizard starts then freezes, so I need Task Manager to get out of it; if I launch from the Desktop the console comes up but will not display any files. The only way I can get it back is to do a system restore, and the next time I switch on the fax will be gone again. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the windows component and the modem driver but I still have to do a restore every time I want to send a fax. Is it a glitch in the boot process, and if so how on earth do I find it? In hope Derek Peters
