I am trying to diagnose a problem with a tiny software application called vdat. BACKGROUND: I have a large live music collection...much of it is recorded onto Digital Audio Tape (DAT). I have a DDS tape drive (Sony SDT-9000) with a special firmware update which allows the drive to read digital audio data and transfer it to my hard drive at up to 4 times normal speed. The software program that controls the tape drive and allows me to choose what portion of the tape I wish to copy is called vdat. I previously ran this application on another PC without any problems. I recently built a new PC...with the identical configuration, but now whenever I try to open …

Hi, I'm starting to think that Firefox3, is causing my Windows Media Player to stop working, the mp3 still shows as playing, but no sound, even if I restart WMP. Happened with version 9 also, currently using version 11. When the sound stops, Windows also becomes really unresponsive, until I close WMP. Task Manager shows WMP using 98% of the cpu at times. I think its related to FF because, right at the exact same time as I closed a tab in FF, the sound stopped. Also noticed before, opening new tabs has caused WMP to stop playing, at the exact time of opening a blank tab. Even just opening FF has caused WMP to stop playing. If I dont open FF, all is fine. …

I can download the software but when I try to activate my services I get a message that pops up re: apvxdwin.exe is missing then I get a message of vcl50.bpl can't run because apvxdwin.exe is missing. Purchased HP wireless mouse 9/4 and setup consisted of plugging in USB transmitter and away I went. Today the mouse batteries died and I replaced them. No matter what I did, could get no recognition that the PC recognized the mouse. Called HP and after about 2 1/2 hours got to right department. Actually one call they wanted $ to test my system, and all this over a $26 mouse. Item is warranted for 1 year and tomorrow they will call me so a new can be obtained. Hoping someone reading this might offer a testing suggestion. Using Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Presently using old wired PS2 mouse. Man this wireless stuff is great!!
