Everything was just fine since I installed xp pro about 3 weeks ago. Now I get pop ups galore everywhere and windows keeps telling me that automatic updates is turned off (i never turned it off). I ran ad aware 2008 and removed infections. I also ran trojan hunter trial edition and removed 2 infections. I also ran AVG 8.0 and removed infections. I finally went into services and put automatic updates on automatic again and enabled it....but it won't let me do it. I apply it but it stays off and disabled. what is going on here?? I am always running antivirus software, ad ware software and have never ever had a problem with viruses or malware, et…

I have a Fujitsu laptop with a 2G partition on my internal HD named DISE_BACKUP. It has 3 folders: PQImage (which is empty), RECYCLER, and SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION (which can't be accessed). What is this partition for? Did I create it somehow or did it come from the manufacturer? Can I use it for something else (like a bootable)? Thanks Tom

Can't download files
by Guest Jim- 2 replies

I have a problem that is driving me crazy! I have not been able to view videos on the net, nor download any files. When I try to download files, I get a message similar to the below: Not being able to download files started when, for whatever reason, I could not view videos. In trying to fix the problem, I followed all the suggested steps from Microsoft and Adobe relative to de-installing and re-installing the flash player. I have even used 'subinacl' with reset_minimal.cmd from Adobe. The only solution I have found was to create another account with 'Administrator' privilege (which I had before). This worked for ONE day. …

I'm having a problem that is driving me crazy!! I can not download any files from the internet. When I try, I get a message similar to the below: This all started after not being able to view videos on YouTube.com or any of the other videos on NBC, ABC, etc. I've tried all of the suggestions relative to removing Flash Player, running 'subinacl' using reset_minimal.cmd from Adobe with not success. The only solution was to create another account, make myself an 'Administrator' (which I was before). This solution worked for ONE day, then the account reverted to the same behavior as before..(not being able to view video, and download files). …

The "Blue Bar"
by Guest Peter- 9 replies

I would be grateful for some advice on a trivial but annoying problem that I have with the blue bar at the top of my Internet Explorer and Outlook Express displays. This is the one that has the Explorer icon followed by some words (for example) "New Question- Microsoft Internet Explorer". In my case, the "........Microsoft Internet Explorer" is always followed by "...provided by Virgin.net", since Virgin.net used to be my internet provider, when I lived in the UK, where I bought this current computer. It has always been a mystery to me how the words "...provided by Virgin.net" came to be there, because I didn't knowingly select them, but they also appe…
