I have WinXP. I use GOM and Windows Media Player as my two fax/picure/video clips viewer. Neither has volume turned on, when chosen. Other bells and whistle things tell me the sound card is fine What are some things I can check to see if it's something simple?

I have 2 compaq presario systems (one a few years older than the other). The older compaq has Windows ME installed on it. The newer compaq has Windows XP installed on it. The newer compaq burned out, so I'm working with the older one now, but would like to install Windows XP on that system, as ME isn't working very well for me. The recovery disks don't allow me to do this, but as I purchased both systems, I expect I'm entitled to one active copy of windows XP, and am wondering how I go about getting a copy installed on my older compaq system.

RE: Paint Seems Corrupted - Often Won't Open & Interferes with Shutdow I've got the same problem on an IBM T43p, re-booting brings it back but I have to completely repeat all the steps that I was intending to use paint for. I've sent hundreds of Error Reports to Microsoft. I sepnd more time sending Error Reports than I do running useful applications . . . -- Ricaz, T43p "Daiwa" wrote: > I have a Fujitsu notebook with OEM XP SP1, with all available updates (except > SP2). I am attempting to install a Windows XP on a new system that I built. There is nothing on the SATA hard drive. I am getting the above error. So far I have tried: Creating a slipstreamed copy of XP with SP3. Updating the BIOS to the most recent. Tried an older PATA hard drive. Changed the SATA Operation in the CMOS from Enhanced to Compatable. Swapped the PCI-E video card to an older PCI video card. Got the SATA drivers for the MB chipset from Intel's website for use with the F6 option. Swapped the RAM with known good RAM. The hardware is: ECS P35T-A MB. 2GB 667MHz OCZ RAM. Q6600 CPU. The CDROM in my notebook has died and I desperately want to reinstall my XP Home installation. Luckily, I had copied the installation CDs that came with my notebook on the hard drive some time ago. What I would like to know if it's possible, and safe, to reinstall Windows from the Hard drive using the copied files from the CD?

I have problem with my computer running windows xp home. I have reinstalled windows many times in last 2 weeks and during this I also opted for the complete format (not the quick one) of Hard drive but after a day or two computer again stops working showing a blue screen and telling that windows have shut down to prevent some damage and from here it doesn't boot anymore. Some body told me that I would have to format Hard drive by DOS. Can anybody please tell me how. Remember that currently computer is not in bootable stage. thanks.

Re: Using two computers on the same Cable or DSL line. I am writing this letter to ALL Wireless Router manufacturers. I have a Linksys Wireless Router Model:BEFW11S4. It is 7 years (yes, count them, all of seven little years) old. I found that there are no links to any wireless router setting websites that are congruent with the screen shots from Linksys' own self help technical support site. I have had to call Linksys several times to resolve this issue only to be placed on hold for le…
