Have several photos, in several folders. Infact, ~ 2500 in 30 folders for our local Historical Society. We want to print out a thumbnail of each photo, burn them to CD/DVD for storage. We started out using PaintShop Pro but the problem is it doesn't label the photos meaning we have to handwrite definition of each pics or capture screen with list of pics. Either way not good. It does give you 18 pics per page (3 across-6 down). This is a good size. Here's where we're at this point using winxp photo printing wizard. opened folder, selected 'print pictures' and wizard opens. Following direction we get to point of selecting how many photos per page. Of t…

Greetings, I understand that WMP 11 will be included in the SP3. I currently use WMP 10 because it syncs with my Dell Axim PDA. Will WMP 11 be installed automatically? If so, will I be able to revert to WMP 10? If not, will I be able to have the ability to "selectively not install" WMP 11. Thank you for your help, Rich

I have recently purchased a Maxtor 500 gb One Touch 4 external hard drive. I formated it to my computer and it worked fine for a couple of days but now when I try to access the hard drive from my start menu, it tells me access denied. I can unplug it and get in to via auto run. How can I resolve the issue of having to unplug the external to gain access to my files? I'm trying to run this on a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows XP pro. When your right click on a drive in XP's windows explorer, and get these different reported sizes, what is the story? Example, for a 20 GB partition - rounded to 3 significant digits below: (choose whichever I guess; the two listings below are seen next to each other in windows explorer): 12. 4GB 11.5 GB used spaee (tot capacity adds up to 19.9 GB) 7.56 GB 7.04 GB free space (tot capacity adds up to 18.6 GB) (tot = 19.9 GB) (tot = 18.5 GB) and as yet a third variation reported in BING: 11.9 GB used, 7.22 GB free (total = 19.1 GB) Anyone have a good explanation for the differences? …

Control Panel Add/Remove Applications says I have two big apps on my PC: .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 (185MB) .NET Framework 3.0 SP1 (245MB) Is this really just 245MB with a confusing report or is it really a total of 430MB? Wow. I didn't need any .NET until recently when I installed two small-ish open source apps; CDBurnerXP Pro 3 and Filezilla (ftp). Can I uninstall 3.0 and see if these apps work with 2.0? Can I uninstall e 2.0 and get 185MB back? This is an old laptop that needs the disk space. Can I build a stand-alone system?
by Guest X-Eyed_Bear- 4 replies

I want to set up a system that will never be on-line and would like some advice on how to do this. The advantages that I think apply are: 1. No malware will ever infect the system 2. I will not need a firewall, any internet-security software or anti-virus software, meaning that few resident security routines, loaded at start-up, will be required leading to greater system performance. 3. I will not need to continually install security updates to system and application software, again resulting in better performance as well as easier set-up 4. I will not be tempted to load on the latest level of software 'enhancements', most of which are really not usef…
