autofileplus

When I got up this morning, I found "autofileplus-setup.exe" on my computer. A search led me to the information that it's a calculator and data manager for driving. Fine. Wonderful. I didn't ask for it to be on my computer. I have no idea where I might have picked it up. No damage seems to have been done, and it's not listed in programs installed, so I'm deleting it. I'll run my antivirus and antispyware programs before and after deleting it.

changing txt file association
by Guest Jeff@unknown.com- 4 replies
I use a program "Notepad2.exe" to work on my text files. Since I installed SP3 when I click on a .txt file it opens in Microsoft's built-in Notepad. I thought it would be simple to change the association by going to Tools\Folder Options\File Types and change txt to Notepad2.exe, but to my surprise, I could find no .txt definition to change. I know I could add it but did not wish to mess things up. Can I just add a new txt to associate with Notepad2.exe or will that break something? Also what is the difference between TXF (that I found associated with MS Notepad) and TXT (which I did not find)? Thanks. Jeff

Strange entry in CD/DVD open list?
by Guest Kenny- 4 replies
When I put a CD or DVD in drive I get the "What do you want Windows to do" as expected but I have a strange entry in the list of actions. It's two strange symbols on top line and on the second line "using <need provider>", no quotes. I have no idea what this is, am very curious about it and don't know how to get rid of it. Any suggestions appreciated. -- Kenny Cargill

The Win XP recognizes the English keyboard, not the Chinese keyboard (MS New Phonetics IME 2002a) Windows as decribed in the following web site of: “http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb174599.aspx#Traditional_Chinese_IME I then install the same keyboard another Win XP. MS New Phonetic IME 2002a appears on the list right away. Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Admin Password Doesn't Work
by Guest Caitlin- 5 replies

I have my computer set so that you have to enter a password "upon resume" after a screen saver. I know that it is the Admin Password that is used. For some reason, the real password works to login, but so does just hitting the enter key and leaving the password blank! (It does not work if you put in the wrong password, fyi; just a blank password.) I have the latest Windows updates (I checked today), and use Windows XP. Does anybody know how to fix this? It would be greatly appreciated!

problems renewing IP address after installing SP3
by Guest Jeff@unknown.com- 3 replies

I have 2 PC running XP (one Media Center, the other XP Home) on a home wireless network protected by a router. Both have been kept updated prior to SP 3. Since I updated to SP3 one of the PC (XP Home) has had continuing problems connecting to the internet. It connects fine to the wireless network, but either continuously searches for the internet IP or has "limited connectivity" so that it will not connect to the internet. "Repair" does not solve the problem. Sometimes rebooting will do so but not always. The other PC (XP Media Center) connects fine after the SP3 upgrade. I am not sure where to go from here or how to trouble shoot this. Internet …

I have XP SP2. In my Eventviewer>System the last few days it shows the following error ID 7000: "The Upload Manager service failed to start due to the following error: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process". In "Services" it shows that it logs on as "Network service" and changing it to "Local Service" does not make any difference, it still fails to start and when trying to start it I receive the following message; Error 1079.The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. I don't kno…
