Hi All, I hope you can help me. I am trying to unistall the program/package that is ' Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 '. Problem is, that it comes up with a error messge that says that the program has become corrupted and I would need to use the CD or DVD that I used to set up the program. Unfortunatley I don't have the CD or DVD. How can I remove this program from my PC ? It takes up an awful lot of memory, and I don't use it at all. Any help or advice appreciated. But why would anyone want to go to Vista? 1 2

I was just curious about this (seriously). I mean, a real (scientific) reason, and not that "everybody else seems to be doing it, so we feel obliged to", or "that it can play better games".

Autoplay problems
by Guest Terry Pinnell- 2 replies
Normally when I insert a DVD into my DVD drive it plays with PowerDVD automatically, courtesy Autoplay. Today it showed just the contents in an Explorer window. And looking at the Autoplay tab in the Properties for that drive I see the list of actions no longer even *includes* PowerDVD. Is there a registry entry I can change to fix this please? And could someone remind me of the common causes why Autoplay stops working please? BTW, I note that the Autoplay list of file types doesn't include 'DVD' explicitly. Do I assume 'Video files' is the only relevant one in this context? -- Terry, East Grinstead, UK

BIOS upgrades - reflashing the BIOS
by Guest Bill in Co.- 16 replies

Just spent an "interesting" (to put it mildly!) weekend on this project with the other computer, to enable a microprocessor upgrade. I wouldn't recommend it for the faint-hearted, suffice it to say, or you might end up with a paperweight. :-) You know, it wouldn't be quite so bad, except that in some cases, there is no reverse path available (i..e, it's a one way trip) - which seems unforgiveable, on their part! My question is: why do these BIOS manufacturers sometimes make it so damn difficult to upgrade/downgrade or go back to a previous version (especially when going from one manufacturer to one its subsidiaries, or vice versa (like Dell and…

If I logoff or re-start with several windows on display, then return there are no windows on the display. However, in one PC with W2K that I have, they do return under the same circumstances. Windows Media Player Copying Images
by Guest technologyteach- 6 replies

I am trying to take a screen shot of a short cartoon playing through windows media player. I do the usual print screen thing but it doesn't seem to be working properly. The image that I cut only appears as a black box which acts like a window. As I move the black box around the screen it shows a different part of the image. Is there anyway I can get around this or does it sound like the film has been protected in some way? Thanks. -- technologyteach

I have a hard drive enclosure housing a new Western Digital HD. I have plugged it into the computer and it recognizes the USB device, but does not show it in the windows explorer. I am assuming I have to format it first, but I am not sure how to do this without being able to see the drive in Windows. I am sure it is a simple fix, any help would be great

Underline turns bold
by Guest bmctiern- 6 replies
I have a 3 line paragraph that needs to be underlined. The last line reads this "Agreement"). Agreement is bold italic. When I underline the entire paragraph the third line of the paragraph (this "Agreement").) turns the underline to bold, while in the rest of the paragraph the underline appears not bold or normal. The funny thing is if you add spaces to the third line of the paragraph the bold comes off the underline. Anybody have an answer to that one? I can send an example if need be.

Install Windows from 2nd partition
by Guest Valmiki- 1 reply

I need to reinstall Windows XP on an elderly laptop without a currently working optical drive. The I386 folder is already on the data partition of the drive - used earlier for running SFC. Is the < winnt.exe /s: d:\I386 > command suitable for the install - after first navigating to that folder with a boot floppy? That partition is FAT formatted. A replacement optical drive is on order but will take a week to arrive. And this laptop needs to be up and running today (an involved story). A very recent back-up image of the system exists - on an optical disc! And I don't have the right adapter handy to hook up the drive to a working desktop to restore it di…
