I am wondering if this is possible, I would like to cite a reference in the body e.g [1] and at the end have the references in full e.g [1] author, title, year e.t.c I am wondering if there is a way whereby, if I were to add an additional reference at the end, before or after my initial reference, if my initial reference of [1] will automatically change in the text body of my report? so e.g if I added another reference [2] but I added a third in front of reference [1] so it now becomes [2] if there is a way in word 2003 this automatic changes can take effect

Yes, I am still moving into my new computer (Windows XP). Today, while visiting a Web sites that I like view, I was confronted with a need to have Java software loaded on my system. Is Java software the same? If not, is one version better to use on a Windows XP machine than another? I seem to remember faintly that Java…

by Guest Tom- 10 replies

WinXP Pro SP2 all MS updates Laptop 80GB primary/65GB used; 160GB secondary USB/135GB used (both ATA, not SATA) C:\Documents and Settings\UserID.DomainName\Local Settings\Temp I've recently noticed about 100MB of *.tmp files and others in the above set of directories. Many of these files are dated before 2008 or essentially before the last cold boot into the WinXP OS. Is it ok to delete these files en-mass? Like ALL of them? What's the pro/con on it besides making me feel like I've recovered 100MB of disk space? As a general question, what files under C:\...\Local Settings\Temp\ should I keep? [i have some directories named: _SkypeIEToolbar_Cache; Ac…

Task Scheduler doesnt run tasks
by Guest James W. Long- 1 reply

Hi All, I have a task set to run at user Logon. It does not run anymore. I used to run fine. The task was created by the user who is an Adminisrator on the machine. I can run it manually from within the task scheduler window. The Task Scheduler Log shows no information about running my task at logon, as if it did not even exist. I have stopped and started the task scehduler service. I have rebooted. I have deleted and recreated the task. still, it will not run when I log on. I found that if I assign a time to run, the task scheduler runs the task sucessfully. What changed: The user account password was changed on the system and domain. The user …

XP 64bit edition - what happened to it ?
by Guest driftwood- 2 replies
I recently bought a new laptop which has a AMD Turion64 processor but came with VISTA 32 bit. I'm fed up with vista and want to use XP, I find Vista just annoying in so many ways, mostly because it's clunky and slow but also treats me like an idiot. So if I'm going to go back to XP I thought I might as well use the 64bit version but the trial download has been replaced with Vista. Anyone know where I can get this please and what problems I might incure using it? TIA

by Guest John Gregory- 8 replies

I apologize for the re-post, but I never got an answer…. When I try to run system restore to create a restore point, it says that "system restore has been turned off by group policy". The computer is a company computer - most likely in a workgroup. However I do have full administrative rights to the computer. IBM T-60, Windows XP, SP2. How do I turn it back on? I looked in the group policy editor, but could not find a place to turn it back on. Alternatively, is there a manual way to set a restore point? (as in the early windows days of copying the registry file?) Any ideas? >>>> Background information <<<< Th…

Windows XP Buttons Missing on Bottom Task Bar
by Guest SpamMePlease\(NOT\)- 2 replies

Windows XP Media Centre 2002 service pack 2 Today I switched on my PC and the buttons usually shown on the bottom of the task bar when windows are open are not shown any more. Secondly in spite of setting the sound scheme to "no sounds" the computer makes a beep when windows notification messages pop up. I notice that the task bar is slightly different from usual: 1. there is a light blue line about 10 pixels high running directly above the task bar, and the width of the screen. 2. the quick launch tool bar on the task bar has two tiny vertical lines of dots staggered. All these changes are very annoying and I have run both my…

I know how to move it (Although I am not sure about the "Assigning Permissions" bit). But is there any disadvantage to having the folder and all my data on a different drive from the OS and Programs? I had thought the speed of file opening might be slower, but is this noticeable, and what other problems might be encountered. Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to hide a user account from the User Accounts panel without disabling the account? For example, I am administrator so I can view all the user accounts in the user accounts section of the control panel but is there any way for me to hide one of those user accounts so it doesn't appear but they can still log on?
