Deleting Hard Returns in a Word Document
by Guest Jeff Rosiek- 3 replies
I copied in some text from a pdf file and pasted it into Word. I have Windows XP with Word 2003. When I pasted the text, it puts hard returns at the end of each line. Is there a simple way I can replace these returns with a space and no return so that the text flows as it should? Thanks for your help. -- Jeff A. Rosiek

I'm getting frequent (every 2-3 min) svchost.exe errors: same instruction address is trying to access memory at 0x00000000. Is there a way to see what program is trying to do this? McAfee quarantined something and this started happening so I figure it's some sort of virus. Anyway to get rid of it without re-install? Thanks

by Guest Neil Harrington- 17 replies

The system, a recent build, is as follows: Biostar TF7025-M2 (aka N68SA-M2T) GeForce 7025/NF630a chipset Athlon 64 X2 3600+ 2 GB DDR2 Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT WD 160GB hard drive WinXP Home v.2002 updated to SP3 Whenever I try to go into standby, I get the message "preparing to stand by ..." but the system just hangs. Changing standby in the BIOS from S1 to S3 makes no difference. I've enabled hibernation in Power Options but that doesn't work either. When I try to go into hibernation I just get "preparing to hibernate ..." and the system hangs again. Everything in the power management section of BIOS looks okay to me, the system has been doing …

Windows Genuine Advantage - reports Windows not genuine
by Guest Gerry- 2 replies
XP Pro SP2 Windows is a OEM install and been running fine for the past 4 years and has always passed a WGA check. The most recent update to WGA wiped out my video driver which resulted in the system booting with only a VGA display. I reinstalled the video driver and now have the proper display, but WGA continues to report that Windows is not genuine. I ran through the validation process and received a pass, but WGA continues to tell me my OS is not genuine. I restored the entire drive from a backup prior to installing the latest WGA but I am still getting the not genuine error. How can I get things back to normal?

FIrewire 400 connection between notebook and workstation
by Guest penciline- 2 replies
I inadvertently posted this in the Media Center newsgroup . . . What I want to know is how to connect my notebook and my workstation such that I can record the video signal from my notebook (a specific window on the notebook) onto the hard drive of my workstation via a firewire connection. I imagine that this type of connection vs. an S-video connection will enable the audio and video signals to be synchronized. Is this possible or should I be using a screen capture software on my notebook to record directly to the notebook's hard drive. If so, what software is recommended? (Adobe Captivate?)
