Hi. I installed a Nvidia GeForce 6200 256MB DDR Low Profile Dual DVI & VGA (PCI) card on a Kadoka motherboard BIOS upgraded to 0AASNP06. Computer is running Windows 98SE on an AMD-700 K6-III processor with 512MB of RAM. The system hangs when I shut down with a blinking cursor. If I try to restart in MS-DOS mode, it gives me a DOS screen with Windows Protection Error, You Need to Restart Your Computer, and any key will shut it down, although the state when I restart will not remember any changes. Gateway will not give tech support as this is third party (although they recommended checking the power supply, but it's 350W so it's more than they specified…

Make Your Site Quick To Load!
by Guest xikom03@yahoo.com.tw- 0 replies

The time it takes to load your site can make or break a visitor's first impression of your site. If your site takes too long to load, the visitor will click "Stop" or "Back" and leave your web site. If you are a business and offering people important information, it is critical to have a nice design, with a quick load time. You may want to check out the load time of your page, to indeed see if your site loads quick enough for the average user. A great site tool can be found at http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ where you are able to enter your site and it displays a report on the time it takes to load your site on different connections, in add…

Maximum size USB flash drive
by Guest PSRumbagh- 6 replies
I am using a HP Pavilion 6465 desktop (circa 1999) with a pair of USB 1.0 ports that is running on Windows 98 First Edition. The OS recognizes a 512 MB USB flash drive but not a 2GB flash drive (SanDisk Cruzer/U3 2GB). What is the maximum size that the Win 98 generic driver will recognize? Is there a driver available that will accomodate a 2 GB flash drive?

Look Younger With Antioxidant
by Guest apollo66942@yahoo.com.tw- 0 replies

What does antioxidant have to do with anti-aging? You might not think in the first place that antioxidant has a great benefit to prevent early aging. Furthermore, you might not be aware of what antioxidant is and how it is also beneficial for your health. Antioxidant can make you look younger than your age. Antioxidant is a very important substance that is needed by our body to protect vital cell structures. This is done by neutralizing hazardous molecules called the free radicals which can be formed by environmental factors such as chemical fumes and pollution. You see that they can cause harm to your skin, and may go further to cause skin aging. Thus, you are…

Win 98 SE hotfix UPDQ 823559
by Guest C B- 6 replies

Belarc Advisor for the first time today showed Hotfix UPDQ 823559 as no good and needing to be re-installed. Did so twice from the update CD I got from Gary Terhune and also from the MS site. None took, still shows as no good. Am I correct in that this update applies to the Buffer Overrun in the HTML converter? If so, how important is this fix. I'm guessing I have to un-install something to get this right? If so, any pointers welcome. Don't want to mess with registry w/o some instruction as to exact key etc. Win 98 SE, p166. Updates for Windows 98 - where?
by Guest buffalo rider- 16 replies

Does anyone have the URL for Windows 98 updates on the Microsoft website, or any other website. I installed Windows 98 from CD on an older laptop that I still use, and want to add Windows98 updates. This used to be on the Microsoft website. I can no longer find it. I had the Windows 98 updates in a separate file on my new computer -- for burning to CD -- but I must have accidently deleted them. I went back to the Microsoft website to download the updates once more, but could not find them using the links that Microsoft provides.

Win 98 SE Hangs During Boot Up
by Guest ed r- 7 replies

Once bootup progresses through Post, Autoexec and runs AVG boot search which reports all is ok. Boot up then hangs with a blinking cursor in the top right hand corner of the screen. From the startup menu: I ran the system startup troubleshooter to no avail. I ran Registry Restore, none of the 5 options helped. I then ran AVG from the desktop and got a message stating xxxxxxxxxxx Finally I ran a logged bootup and found the Marlet font had failed to load and from that point on everything else failed to load also. Will replacing the Marlet font file resolve the problem?

The Most Powerful Health Beverage Ever

I am about to tell you a story that is unlike any story you have ever heard. Guess what? IT IS TRUE! There is a place in the world that is one of the most remote. A place that no one knew was being studied until 40 years had passed. Well; there are people that live in this region. In the morning, when the sun rises above the mountains, these people wake up. With one exception. They wake up 100. 110, and yes, even 120 years old! They also are healthy and full of life. One gentleman named Gabriel was featured in a major publication because he walked home up a hill everyday carrying a sack of potatoes. At 117! They have extraordinary vitality, their sexual e…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= harassment. at work -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Once I stopped watching television. and listening to the radio at the end of 1990, "they" had to find other ways of committing abuses. So. they took what must be for them a tried and tested route; they get at you by. subversion of those around you. Since they wouldn't be able. to do that with my family or friends, that meant getting at people in. the workplace to be their mouthpieces and do their dirty work. for them. They. supplied my employers in Oxford with details from what was going on in my private. life, and what I and other people had said at my home and accommodation. in Ox…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= why the. security services? -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= You may ask,. why do I think the "they" referred to are the security services? Is there any evidence that. there is a single source, as opposed to a loosely. based "whispering campaign" amongst many people? Even if there is. a single source, is there any evidence that "they" are professional "buggers" as opposed to amateurs, or perhaps people working for. a privately funded. organization? a) As to. the question of a single source versus something more fragmented; it is quite obvious that there is a single source from the way the. campaign has been carried out…

help with upgrade
by Guest 1+Triplets mom- 3 replies

I currently have Windows 98 on my computer and am thinking about upgrading it to Windows XP. I was doing the Upgrade Advisor I found on the Microsoft sight to see if my computer would be compatable. It is suppose to give me a report of things that may not be compatable. Before I get to the end of the "check" I get an error which reads Library Load Failure err=1157 485. I was wondering what it means and what I can do to get past this so I can continue with my "check" with Upgrad Advisor.
