M.I'5.Persecu tion ` my respon se to th e hara ssment

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -= my response. to the harassment -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- My first. reaction in 1990/91 was to assume that if I broke contact then they would not be able to follow and would lose interest. So I. did the things that have. been suggested by other people; I sold my television, stopped listening to the radio and tried to withdraw. away from the sources of abuse as much as possible. I reasoned that they must have more. important things to deal with and that normal people. would simply leave me alone if it were made. difficult for them to continue their harassment. I reckoned without the. sheer vindictiveness of t…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= purpose in publicizing it; censorship in. uk.* newsgroups -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The postings. to uk.misc newsgroup generated a very defensive reaction from Usenet. readers in the UK. So much so, that they tried strenuously to suppress what was being said, both by breaking the rules. of netiquette in their responses on the forum, and directly by action to revoke. the account from which the postings. were issued. Yet. the postings were within the normal boundaries of behaviour for uk.misc,. and other less partisan spectators did not see justice in the …

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -= who knows about. it? =- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Many people know, both in the establishment and media, and. among the general public. Despite an absence of its target from the UK for. more than two. years, the echoes of paranoia can still be heard loud and clear from across the water. When it started in. 1990, the only people who knew were those in BBC television who were spying. on my home, and a few radio broadcasters. There were a few. cases of public harassment, but very little compared to the situation that developed a couple. of years later. The list today includes BBC TV staff (newsreaders such. as Martyn Lewis, Michael…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -= how and why did it start?. -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The harassment didn't start by itself, so someone. must have been there at the outset to give it. a firm push and set the "animals" after me. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-= -=. Capital Radio - Chris Tarrant -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-= Capital Radio DJs have been "in on it". from the start. One of the first things I heard in the summer of 1990 was from a Capital DJ. who said, "If he listens to Capital then he. can't be all bad" (supportive, you see. We're not bastards). Much of what. came over the radio in 1990 is now so far away the precise details have been obliterated by time.. No diary was kept of the details, and although archives if. they exist may give pointers, the ambiguity of what. broadcasters said would leave that open to re-interpretation. In spring 1994, Chris Tarrant…

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-= -= the BBC, television and radio. -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-= The first. incident in June 1990 was when a BBC newsreader made what seemed to be a reaction. to something which had happened in my home, and out of context of what they were. reading. My first reaction was disbelief; nothing of the sort. had ever happened before, the idea that such a thing could occur had not crossed my mind, yet. there was no doubt of what had just taken place. My disbelief. eroded as this recurred time after time. Besides the. news, offenders included shows such as Crimewatch (!), Newsnight, and "entertainment" shows. There seems to …

MI5 are Afraid to Admit They're. Behind the Persecution MI5 have issued a formal denial of any involvement in. my life to the Security Service Tribunal, as you might. expect them to; but, more importantly, the persecutors have never denied that theyre from. the Security Service, despite several years of. accusations from my corner on usenet and in faxed articles. I am. not surprised that the Security Service Tribunal found "no determination. in your favour". I am however a little surprised that. the persecutors have refused to confirm my identification of them; by doing so, they. implicitly admit that my guess was right. "No determination in your favour" says…

Every time I revisit the 'eLf ideas' newslettersThat I used to make and distribute in the lateNineties and reread what I had written in those days,I can still smile at the ideas I was able toChurn out at that age and with having no formalBackground in writing; however, I now usuallyFind myself blushing in shame at the way IBrusquely expressed many ideas and views--oftenArrogant, couldn't-care-less, lots ofNeologisms, verbose rather than eloquent,Flamboyant rather than precise. I even remember declaring in one article: "ThisIs my literary world, and you are just myPlatypi. I can do whatever I want; I can writeWhatever I think of. You can't do anythingBut read."…

Make Your Site Quick To Load!
by Guest apollo66942@yahoo.com.tw- 0 replies

The time it takes to load your site can make or break a visitor's first impression of your site. If your site takes too long to load, the visitor will click "Stop" or "Back" and leave your web site. If you are a business and offering people important information, it is critical to have a nice design, with a quick load time. You may want to check out the load time of your page, to indeed see if your site loads quick enough for the average user. A great site tool can be found at http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ where you are able to enter your site and it displays a report on the time it takes to load your site on different connections, in add…

External Hard Drive Driver
by Guest Scott- 14 replies
I have a 500GB Western Digital external hard drive that I use for Acronis image backups for my various systems. The drive is set up for Windows 2000 system and above. When I connect it via USB to my Win 98SE machine, it looks for driver, but can't locate one. (none came with the external drive). Is there any way to find a driver that will allow me to use this drive on a Win 98 machine? There's no special software on this external drive, just a standard USB 2.0 cable. Thanks! Scott

I decided to upgrade 98FE to SE on an IBM i1400-2911-411 via an OEM CD for an older Gateway desktop model that my son had discarded. Don't know the model. Things are working, after a fashion, but the display adapter and driver installed is the basic VGA, ala minimum colors and screen density. Can't adjust either via Control Panel. Wanting to have more than this grainy screen to read, to deal with some other Windows' incompatabilities and peculiarities, I went to the Lenovo site and downloaded the video driver for the original 98FE installation - Neomagic MagicGraph 128ZV+. Installed it and the machine upchucked - Windows damage message, Win stopped loadin…

I used TOSHIBA Satellite 2065CDS Configuration Builder CD with Microsoft Windows 98 and TOSHIBA COMPANION DISKETTE to reformat my computer hard disk. At the first time, It was successful. Then, I forgot to register, updated the operation system, and tried to install IE5.0, chinese version. It didn't work right. So I uninstalled IE5.0, then used the Cnfiguration Builder CD and Companion Disketter to reformat my computer and recover the system three more times. The computer was shut down automatically during inflating the files. I knew that reinstalling was not completed. But I still could reboot the computer and enter into the windows 98. Hi, My computer has WIN98se. I downloaded "FreezFLVtoAVI/MPG/MWV" converter from http://www.smallvideosoft.com. It did a very nice job, but it didn't convert every file. Then I downloaded a shareware version from another site that is suppose to be for Win98, but when I tried to install it, a message said it was for WIN NT! Can someone please help me find a GOOD YouTube FLV to MPG (or WMV) converter? Thanks in advance, Brad Before you type your password, credit card number, etc., be sure there is no active keystroke logger (spyware…

Windows Protection Error
by Guest Julie- 7 replies

I installed a different motherboard today with one that came out of a Windows 98 machine (no problems with that machine). I get this error when I boot up on this machine. I've re-installed Windows 98. When I re-installed, all I could see was that it replaced my registry using scanreg (twice now). I've tried what Microsoft says to do by disabling everything with msconfig. I still get the error. I DO NOT want to reformat and install clean. Isn't there a vxd file I can delete and when I reinstall, its created again.Any ideas?

Followup on my winME laptop
by Guest mm- 3 replies

My thanks to Martt and Ron a couple months ago for their advice on restoring winME to a laptop. I only asked in case, but what do you know, the in case happened. I missed a step and fell with the laptop, an IBM Thinkpad 600E about 7 years old, andhit a stone floor with my knee and with the laptop in a pretty thin shoulder bag. It worked fine after that. (Specific questions below end in question marks, but I seem to have to write this as a narrative, for it to make sense.) But then about 6 weeks later I gave it a really really really big whack, while it was running, and though it worked well for the rest of the session, I couldn't start windows again …

A lot of people these days are interested in getting their own place on the world wide web. Whether it$B!l(Bs a personal site like a blog, or a business site, they all need to have a decent plan before they get started. A few years ago I started designing and creating websites myself. I started just to show off to others, but I noticed it wasn$B!G(Bt as easy I thought it was. I mean, it is easy to get a site online; you just buy a template, pay a coder, and pay some one to insert content and advertise for you then you$B!G(Bre done. But if you want to do things yourself, that$B!G(Bs where it gets tricky. After a few sites, I managed to find a certain …

In the 2 CDs set of WIN99/98SE/ME Updates I make available by mail (email updates_at_grystmill.com for more information), I neglected to include Windows 98 Service Pack 1 which includes some system updates and all the Y2K stuff. I have made the WIN98SP1 available on my website and will include it in my package when I make the next sets of CDs. Meanwhile, I will leave this SP up on my site "forever". http://grystmill.com/downloads/win98sp1.zip

We all know to exercise our bodies to keep fit, but how often do you think about exercising your brain? And what type of exercise does it need anyway? What are the facts? What is the secret to mental agility? Keeping mentally active will keep your brain in good shape. Getting older does not mean that you have to be forgetful! Recent research into Alzheimer's disease found that people who were less active between the ages of 20 and 60 years are almost 4 times more likely to develop the disease. The brain, like the rest of the body, needs to be kept active to keep healthy. You exercise your body to keep it in shape. Now it has been shown that exercising your…

I get an error message when booting up Win98 "0271: Check date and time settings" When I try to go into setup it needs a password. I have never needed a password before. If I try and continue without going into setup it still asks for a password. It has never asked for a password before. What happened? Is there a default password for this?
