Computer only registers 16 RAM - have 64 1 2

My BIOS battery went dead. When I replaced the battery and started my computer, it only registered 16 MB of RAM. I have 64 MB RAM on 2 - 32 banks and 2 empty slots. It is an older HP Platinum 40 with W95 whicjh I had upgraded to W98SE2. I can't find anyway to get it to register the 64 MB RAM. I tried MS Cong and F1 setup to no avail. -- Posted via http://computerhelpforums.net Forum to USENET Gateway

Hello: I came across an interesting thread in the MSFN Forum that is listing "Last Versions of Software for Windows 98SE, + Current Software Still Supported." Of course, most, if not all, of these apply to Win ME as well as Win 98. To view the thread, take a look at: http://www.msfn.org/board/Last-Versions-of-Software-for-Windows-98SE-t105936.html . Cheers, O.J.

netgear FA310 trouble..............

Hello, I have a win 98 se computer .It was working ,but a little slow. So I ran the internet repair program. Now I can't get the modem to ' talk' to the computer. It's a high speed (10 mbps) modem.I have to limit it to 10 mbps, or the internet will switch off, as the building internet guy has it set up that way. Now the modem doesn't even have the one led that used to signify a signal. i've tried re installing it and entering the parameters again with no results. It is a Netgear FA 310 modem.I've tried for hours to get it going again with no luck. Any help is appreciated. -- Posted via http://computerhelpforums.net Forum to USENET Gateway

Any USB DOS mouse drivers (useful for some boot disks, etc)? 1 2

(Before anyone asks: yes, I know there are a couple of DOS newsgroups on the microsoft server, but they are unpopulated (been "there" already). I'm looking for a USB mouse driver for DOS access (for a new Dell without USB legacy BIOS support). Some boot disks use DOS, but I can't find any USB mouse drivers that work for me. I've been doing some research on the net, and in the Dell user forums, and know some such drivers do exist, but: 1. There is no legacy USB support "option" in my new Dell computer's BIOS, but the "USB controller" option in BIOS is enabled, of course. 2. I've tried "usbmice" (with OCHI and UHCI drivers), and also DUSE, but n…

Elapsed time meter

I am looking for a utility that will keep track of the total on time of a PC running Win98SE. Optionally it would be nice if it would log both by daily usage and running total to date. Sort of like a "Hobbs hour meter" used on aircraft. -- Posted via http://computerhelpforums.net Forum to USENET Gateway

KB918547.exe

I recently found this entry in my startup list. I edit that list regularly because far too many programs are added that do nothing but overload my system resources. I remove all but the absolute necessary. If I want to use a program, I open it, I do not want this junk loaded when I am not using it. Anyhow, I found the following.... C:\Windows\System\KB918547\KB918547.exe Immediately I suspected a virus or spyware, and disabled it. Doing a websearch, I found that this is something that was most likely added by Microsoft when I did an upgrade to Win98. I did recently get a few upgrades, so hopefully that's what it is. I ran a virus and spy check anyhow, …
