Finding key in registry and deleting
by Guest brucegooglegroups- 5 replies

Norton Win Doctor indicated that "The key, "CLSID\{06849E9F-C8D7-4D59- B87D-784B7D6BE0B3}\InprocServer32," refers to a missing file, "C: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll." There were two solutions: 1. Win Doctor wouldn't delete the key, so the other solution was to open the registry with Norton Registry Editor. I first tried to locate the key, but it was not located when searching in find. I backed up the registry first. Norton Registry Editor opened the registry and highlighted the problem. I deleted the key. However, after running Win Doctor two or three times, the same problem is indicated and different keys are op…

Poor man's tab browsing with IE6
by Guest bobster- 10 replies

I've tried several IE based browsers with tabbed browsing and for various reasons haven't liked them. I have been using what I call a poor man's tabbed IE6 browsing by opening multiple windows that I can selectively open from the bottom of the main page. This works fine except it takes a long time to set it up after each re-boot. My question: Is there a way that I can open a list of several web sites at boot? I know I can open any number of programs by just adding them to my start menu but I haven't found a way to open specific web sites at boot time. Am I missing something simple here or is this not possible with IE6? Thanks in advance

Will I lose dual boot ?
by Guest Don Phillipson- 4 replies

Problems here with a 2.8 GHz PC, set for dual boot, Win98SE and Xandros Open 4 (Debian). The original idea was to use one to restore the other, in case of need. This has not quite worked . . . 1. I need to reinstal Win98. This is tricky, cf. the NDIS error on PCs faster than 2.2 GHz (divide by zero hence crash at one of the two reboots integral to the installation process.) I succeeded in 2005 by sheer repetition, no NDIS error at the 5th or 6th attempt . . . but have ever since been reluctant to try again. But it seems I am now obliged to do so (by stem errors caused by a failing power supply, now replaced.) Xandros was installed second, and added …

by Guest allanc- 5 replies

One of my clients is running a dual boot XP PRO and Windows 98 computer. The PC used to have 256 Mb of RAM and there were no issues except the computer ran slow. In order to speed up the computer, I installed a total of 2 Gb of RAM. Now, XP PRO is much faster. However, according to the client, when he boots into Windows 98 the following is displayed: HiMem testing Insufficient memory to run Windows 98 All assistance is appreciated.

This is most peculiar, posted a few replies to the 'Yikes and yowsers' thread, which came through and then replies to PCR and Bill's posts (that didn't show yesterday) with the subject line changed slightly to reflect thus, they didn't come through. Can see the PCR-Bill subject line changed posts when I go to google groups to look (no, no, no not post!) but they don't show in outlook express !! perplexedpebble B-(

by Guest Gerry- 10 replies

When I plugged a USB drive into the USB port on my Win2K machine, I instantly had a new drive! But on my Win98se machine, on bootup I'm informed that it found "new hardware" and I'm given the opportunity to install the driver for it. (I ain't got one.) Any suggestions?
