Hi All… I am running a production Windows Server 2003 SP2 on C:\ with Exchange 2003 installed on E:\ when the E:\ drive was full in the morning and has 0 bytes free space! I tried to free and delete or move some files but they appear shortly after I do that again and no changes in the size appeared. After restarting the sever, I start to get this error: E:\ is not accessible. There is not enough space on the disk. Also the Exchange services and some other service couldn’t start. This drive E:\ has all the Information Store and the files!!! Any idea how to resolve this? Thanks -- Aws awsok@yahoo.com

by Guest Stuart Parker- 0 replies

I have the following config: 2x 2008 server core machines, configured with Hyper-V, and as a failover cluster. All configured nicely and working well. I have installed an additional NIC in each machine and I wish to use these cards purely for iSCSI. How can I disable all the additional bindings (QoS, MS Client etc etc) on these cards via Server Core. I just want to leave ipv4 on these cards for iSCSI Secondly, is there any way I can force the iSCSI initiator to only use these additional cards ? Thanks Stu

storCenter Pro 150d: Unable to access Shares anymore after migratingdomain to w2k8

Hello, we have two Iomega Storcenter Pro 150d NAS in our network. Since we migrated the domain to windows 2008(Windows 2008 native mode), we are not able to acces the shares on the NAS anymore. We always get a "login failed" message. Web login still works. There seems to be a parameter in Windows 2008 default domain configuration(NTLM level or other), which prevents the NAS from authenticating users agains the domain. Any idea? Best regards PR

laptop shuts off
by Guest Abe- 2 replies

I recently installed Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (x64) for my laptop and it just started randomly shutting off. I wanted to investigate a few things: CPU temp and device drivers. No errors are getting logged against the Event Viewer, but when I try to go to Device Manager, i get the error: MMC cannot open the file c:\windows\system32\devmgmt.msc There is KB for XP addressing this and that didn't fix anything for me. Is there another reason I can't go to the device manager? Thanks, Abe

Dear All, We are trying to reduce the size of roaming profiles to improve our log on times. 1st. We are initialy trying to remove unnessary files from our Default Profile, that is used when a user logs on for the first time. It's presently 5.5mb, which seems a lot. a file list is included below, my question is what can be deleted cause it's not required? 2nd. I believe we can restrict or exculde files or directorys being included in the roaming profiles. Presently our users profiles can be anywhere between 6-25mb. I think this can be done in Group Policy, can any point me to any help on this subject, and again sugest files/directorys that can b…

I am confused!!! I have attempted to determine an appropriate External HDD by reading many posts on many forums and am now frozen. People talk about: The drive dozing off? Drive not working with W2003 (eg Western Digital and Seagate websites say their drives are not compatible with W2003) etc etc Can anyone recommend a rock solid Ext HDD for small office, simple W2003 environment, will use BACK utility supplied with 2003, small amount of data (30GB). -- Regards Tom

DNS/Active Directory Issue 1 2
by Guest Lem@community.nospam- 25 replies

I recently added a new dc that is also the new global catalog server. I was unable to demote the old dc using the dcpromo. I have 2 main problems: 1. Clients are not using the new active directory server, for example i am unable to share documents, cannot add users because I cannot find the ad when trying to change permissions, etc. 2. Clients are also not using the new dns server (which is also the new dc/global catalog server) to access the internet. I know this because everytime I unplug the old dc from the network no one is able to access the internet and they all have the new dns server added to their nic settings as the primary dns server. …

1054 error in Windows 2003 server
by Guest Larry Heimendinger- 1 reply

I created a brand new domain and started with a reformatted hard drive for Windows 2003 standard server. Just about everything has gone exactly as planned, but i have started getting repeated 1054 error posts that the domain controller cannot be found and group policy processing has been terminated. Essentially, there are no other errors posted to event logs, and this one happens about every 5 minutes for a while, stops, then resumes some hours later (not predictable when). DNS looks fine, and netdiag reports no problems. The only thing i can add is that on this same box until a few weeks ago a SBS 2003 os copy was running and started having the same…

I've 2 Windows 2003 standard servers which were cloned to VM ESX server. Found that after cloning, when I login, it shows the message that the Windows needs to be activated. I tried to change the product key, but failed. Checked in the servers in production environment, they are with OEM licence. So, I still can't login the 2 cloned servers successfully. Please help.

How does RAID 1 work in restore situation - Briefly.
by Guest ThomasAJ- 4 replies

I know Raid 1 uses 2 identical disks and stores the data identically on each one. I also only want to talk about hardware raid. I have a very simple W2003 setup with 5 users on Terminal Services. I want to upgrade my 3YO IBM X206 with a new server that has hardware raid and 2 drives. The new server has cold-swap drives feature. (I cannot get any technical person from IBM to talk to me - go figure) So what happens when a drive fails? Does the W2003 know about? Does it issue a message? Does it stop working altogether until whatever is done? Should I purchase a 3rd IDENTICAL drive so when one fails it can take over? Does it takeover automatically? or do …

Ping question
by Guest Tom- 15 replies

I'm getting a error message on my XP clients: "The system cannot log you on now because the domain "example" is not available." However, my laptop is joined to the domain and directly connected to the same switch the server is connected to. I can login locally and ping the server and unc map to it, but if I restart the machine it still won't log in. I've tried several clients. The Windows Vista clients I have works fine. On the XP client I can ping the server, but the server can't the client. The Server is Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition with SP2. The Vista client can ping and be pinged without problems. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appr…

w32time

Hi Currently, my servers are having some issues with w32time. My servers are not syncing with the time source (a server 2003) and event id 50 and 36 are logged. We set them to sync in a 12 hr interval. Can anyone advise on the possible causes to this problem? Could it be the time source or the interval?
