Win32_PNPEntity.ConfigManagerErrorCode >= 32
by Guest Larry- 0 replies

Good day, I have a server with a device (DVD/CD-ROM drives) reporting Win32_PNPEntity.ConfigManagerErrorCode = 39. What is troubling is the fact that the MSDN documentation on this class (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394353(VS.85).aspx) clearly shows that the range for this property is 0-31. Thanks, Larry

WMI Problem
by Guest Mike in Nebraska- 0 replies

[also posted on microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.wmi] I have .NET 2.0 SP1, .NET 3.0 SP1 and .NET 3.5 running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, fully patched. It is NOT a DC. I have some WMI errors that apparently need .NET 3.5 SP1 (which isn't out yet, and I've tried but can't get the hotfix that will correct the problem), and am hoping that .NET 3.5 with n o errros in the WMI Diagnostic utility will do the trick. I ran it just now and it came back with a statement that WMI is operating correctly. However, the .txt file that was generated had some errors that I feel I should fix. However, I haven't a clue on how to do it in WMIMGMT.MSC. Here's the errors…

"Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (An unexpected network error occurred) Group Policy processing aborted." This is from the Application log of the server itself (SBS2003)! Repeats every 5 minutes. Have spent ages trying to find solution without success. I suspect it has to do with MS Virtual PC 2007. I need it to run tests on Windows 2000, XP and Vista without having to have any more hardware. Typically have 2 or 3 virtual PCs running at the same time. They also report Winlogon and Browser failures but browse network fine. Some are domain members others are on the same name workgroup. Server otherwise functions …

by Guest PhilScott- 1 reply

Hi All, Up until recently, we were running Small Business Server 2003 R2. We have now installed the transition pack on this server to now make it a full Windows 2003 Server (R2 I assume) I want to use the R2 version of DFS as we have branch offices that will benefit greatly from this but I cannot install Distributed File System from the Add/Remove Windows Components. Can someone please help me get DFS on this server?

All, how come, when logged onto a server as the domain admin, I can not execute any exe or batch files off a different machine? When I do, I get the error: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." If its not an executable or batch file, the app opens fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I was going through Ecora's website. Has anybody used Ecora Auditor Pro? How does the technology work? Where does Ecora pull its data from for change management. And how does its configuration audit work? What if someone clears the audit log? Can Ecora still get this information? What other products are out their? Are they effective? Which is the cheapest product out in the market. thx

Now we killed the process (or the program quit) for some reason, but the port xxxx is still open when we monitor it using netstat command and we can not restart our daemon because of the opening port. Hi People want me to publish a folder which one located on a computer. Files & folders are shared and named as "docs". I've got a public Windows 2003 Server Web Ed. with real IP and private Windows 2003 SBS with shared folder "docs" I've tried to add IIS a virtual folder "\\sbs\docs\" as "http://mydomain/docs/". However when I browse with IE, a login window prompts... I tried all possible user/pass combinations but no luck :/ "Everyone" may read&write&list the folder "\\sbs\docs\" (both Security and Share). Icon size (Windows Server 2008)
by Guest Cowboy \(Gregory A. Beamer\)- 1 reply

Does anyone know how to reduce icon size in "details" view in Windows Explorer? This problem seems to only be applicable to Windows Server 2008, which creates some incredibly huge icons (ridiculous?). In Vista, they are MUCH smaller, so I can actually read the details.
