Printer deployment
by Guest Hinkhig- 4 replies

Hi, I have a problem with some printer. I deployed 3 printers on Windows 2k3 R2 using print management, it all worked fine printers were deployed. I have subsequently had to replace a printer as it reached the end of it's life, I have replaced the printer and deployed it OK however I am unable to remove the old printer, in Print Management I have removed the printer but it still appears on all desktops it was deployed to, if I delete the printers from the PC they reappear. Is there any way I can completely remove the printers so they do not install themselves. Thanks, Jo

Windows Live Communication Server 2005 - Web Access
by Guest Adam Scott- 0 replies

Having some problems with LCS 2005 web access whilst trialing it for production use. I'm getting an error 1 when logging on, and various websites have pointed towards a problem with the certificate. Now I'm not a big fan of certificates, and will admit to not knowing much about the implementation with Certificate Services in Svr 2003. I've requested a certificate from the CA with the name of the FQDN machine with web access installed on it. Could anyone give me some advice or a resource that has step-by-step guides on how to implement both Web Access and LCS 2005.

Change all admin account descriptions?
by Guest Smokey Grindel- 0 replies

We already have a GPO in place to rename all our local administrator accounts to another name, but the problem is someone can still tell straight off (i know the SID could give it away too) that it's the admin account since it's description still says it's the administrator account... is there anyway to change this local admin description though a GPO or simple script on a remote computer to say something different? thanks!

When I go to services to start her print spooler I get the message: Could not start the print spooler. Error3: The system cannot find the path specified. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks, David

Limit remote acces to server
by Guest Miha- 3 replies
Hi Is it possible to limit remote access to Win2k3 server so that you could remote connect only to the console session (mstsc.exe /console)? If I disable remote access than also /console switch doesn't work, but if I set that only 1 connection is possible to server, it is possible that besides /console session another admin logs into server, but I want that /console session will be the only way to remotely connect to a server. Thank you in advance Regards, Miha

So I'm trying to use dirquota.exe to change the notification settings on a bunch of quotas and even with refering to the "dirquota notification /?" help all I'm getting is errors. Interact with a program
by Guest Charlie O'Neill- 0 replies

I am at a loss, we have a program for scheduling rooms. I would like to make the scheduler interactive. Right now the program is used by an office staff. The objective is to have the schedule appear on a website and have the users view the schedule for room availability. The program has the capabilities for doing so but I do not know how to go about it. What I would really like is to have an embedded code on the web page to gain access to view the scheduler. I guess the question is what do I need equipment wise? How would I access it through the internet?

I'm a newbie in Performance Monitor. I have to create one which is the same for quite some number of window 2003 servers, which has > 30 counters. Apart from going from Start> Programs> Admin Tools> Performace> Counter Logs> Create new log and add the counters manually in each server, is there any better/ faster method that I can create a log to every servers? a script or whatever...sorry but I just dont have any idea. Thanks

Does anyone know how Microsoft is doing support for the SysInternals tools it purchased from the company of the same name? I want to submit an online ticket and I know at one time they had a support staff that specialized in that tool. When I sent email to one of them it bounced back as "Access Denied". -- Will

Hello, since we reinstalled our domain Controller in Windows 2008, we have every few minutes a warning from the "Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger", concerning a "Memory Hierarchy Error". The server is a HP DL380 with 4 gigs of RAM, 32 gigabyte SCSI-disk,... I already ran the Memory Diagnostics Tool included in Windows 2008, but it showed me no errors Here is the detail about the event, perhaps some idea what could be the cause: Error Source: Corrected Machine Check Error Type: Memory Hierarchy Error Processor ID Valid: Yes Processor ID: 0x6 Bank Number: 0 Transaction Type: Generic Processor Participation: N/A Request Type: Snoop Memory/Io: N/A Memory…
