We have a system which automatically processes incoming pgp encrypted files, but have a problem using munpack. In windows 2000 we reced an email via communigate mail system which is piped to a cygwin script, whicj unpacked the mail, decrypted it and loaded the data to our database. Recently we purchased another server (windows 2003 R2 64 bit), the mail system and cygwin where then installed as a replica of our previous system, all was wel except that we cannot unpack the mail using munpack. The following script is used as an example:- #!/usr/bin/bash LOGZ="F:/autoloaded-files/logtestA.txt" MUNPACK="/usr/local/bin/munpack" ECHO="/usr/bin/echo -e "…

Smartphone/PDA mobile access
by Guest gjb- 0 replies

Hi, I am looking for some advice on remote access server management using PDA/Smartphones using Windows Mobile. I understand many of these devices support RDP/VNC/VPN/Web clients that can be used to remotely access Windows servers. Email push is not so important as we use Lotus Notes. I have no idea what sort of infrastructure needs to be in place to support this or what devices are most appropriate, so would really like to know what others are doing in this arena and what devices/infrastructure they have purchased to support it. Many Thanks, GJ

One with IP 192.168.16.2 which is my LAN and the other NIC is wired directly to my DSL router(Obtain IP autimatically with the DNS addresses set for my ISP. Internet seems to be working fine and I assume the the LAN card is setup correctly unless anyone thinks I should change them. Tonight I am going to join workstations to the domain. My question is how do I need to setup the workstation IP addresses? I only have 3 to setup so I was planning to spicify I…

I have a certifictae server that WAS working perfectly. The only changes i'm aware of in the intervening period are 1) Manually republishing of root server's CRL to the location specified in the CDP extension 2) Installation of MOM advanced client The web interface reports "An unexpected error has occurred: The certification authority has not been started." This is incorrect, both "Certificate Services" and "Cryptographic Services" are started. The event log shows 2 errors Event Type: Error Event Source: CertSvc Event Category: None Event ID: 87 Date: 02/04/2008 Time: 14:22:42 User: N/A Computer: SERVERNAME Description: Certificate Se…

Windows File Protection Message
by Guest MikeG- 2 replies

I'm running a Windows 2003 Small Business Server. When I Logged on to server this message popped up: Windows File Protection Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognised versions. To maintain system stablility, Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows 2003 for Small Business Server. I haven't installed anything...WSUS updates my system. How can I find out what files are missing and/or what caused this? Should I really go back to the Install CD's...about 2 years old (many updates). Thanks for your help...

This is a fairly new computer and about a week or so ago I noticed that I am only seeing a red "x" in spaces where pictures should be in my email and internet explorer it just started happening and I have tried a lot of things but nothing has worked. I have deleted my temp. files and tried to adjust my personal firewalls and I just don't know what to try now. I don't want to put my disk in to wipe it out and put it back. I have only had this computer one month.

Windows2003 blank screen after login
by Guest Rolard99@gmail.com- 1 reply
I have a Windows2003/Exchange 2003 server (32bit sp2 on both) in my environment that just recently stopped allowing logins. Local, remote it doesn't matter. Mail continues to flow correctly and mail clients can connect fine but if you login to the server remotely you get a blank screen. Logging in locally does the same except that the realtime scan module from Trend will startup. Locally I can bring up Task Manager and can fire off commands. Explorer shows as running but stopping and starting it still does not bring up a desktop. Nothing has been installed recently and the event logs have been no help. This weekend I am slated to wrestle with it and current…

I'm setting up the FTP server in Windows 2003 Server Standard. I'd like it if the server would not show directories that the user does not have permissions to access. Is this possible? Also, I notice that if a user does not have permission to access a directory, then can still open the directory, but won't see any files. Shouldn't the server just deny access to the folder?

FSRM - Screen on userprofiles creates .tmp files when blockingcontent.
by Guest TLANTAFF- 2 replies

We've implemented a screen on our User's userprofiles directories. Whenever FSRM blocks a screened file type it creates a .tmp file in its place (in the userprofile). Obviously, this creates space issues. Anybody seen or heard of this before.

Disconnecting Drive Maps over WAN
by Guest Jesse Pastrano- 2 replies
We currently have a remote office connected to our network via a T1 WAN. They have their own file server which they map to and they also map to a file server on our side via the WAN. When a user at the remote office launch Windows Explorer or My Computer the window will freeze for a couple of minutes and then display the drives. From testing, it seems that the drive mappings to our local server seem to be the issue. The drive mappings are timing out (disconnecting) after 15 minutes and it takes a while for them to reconnect. This issue seems to have started after recently running critical updates on our Windows 2003 server. I’m aware of the article o…

THIS WAS ORIGINALY POSTED AT THE LINK BELOW ============================================================== http://www.computing.net/windows2000/wwwboard/forum/65390.html ============================================================== I had some problems with my W2K server and attempted to do a "repair" from the install CD. At one point in the install, The application had problems reading the CD and I quite (F3) out of the install and tried a different CD drive. I ran into the same problem again. I decided that the problem was with the CD itself. So, I got another one and it had the same problem. While all this was going on, over several days, and after the fir…

Here is my scenario.... We have 2 offices, Office A (the main office) and office B (a branch office). We have a secure VPN tunnel between offices which creates a WAN. Office A Has a Windows Server 2003 Standard with Active Directory. Office B has a Windows Server 2003 Standard w/out Active Directory. The server in office B is a member server in the domain (controlled by server A). All workstations in office B are members of the domain. Our WAN connection went down. While the WAN was down none of the workstations is office B can access the server in office B. They are getting a message such as "no domain controller is available to validate your logon". I'm…
