Event ID 333
by Guest Venkat- 2 replies

Hi, We are using Windows 2003 server SP2 Enterprise edition. Our server hangs often and is generating Event ID 333. Event ID 333 says "An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the Registry." After going through the events, i also found Event ID 2020 which says "The server was unable to allocate from the system paged pool because the pool was empty." So i just wanted to know what was causing these errors. Once if we restart the server, it works fine for some time and again this events starts generating and the server…

by Guest Brandon E.- 4 replies

Is there a way to have server 2003 use the wireless only for internet and the LAN for local network activity? I got them both connected but the server is always trying to use the LAN for internet but there is no internet on the lan. it's the wireless that has the internet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

/3GB analysis
by Guest Justin Rich- 7 replies

so, I understand how the /3gb switch works, but is there a way to tell what the kernel end of things is currently eating up? is it assumed that it always takes as much as it has? We have an instance where we might need to do this, but I was wondering how I would go about analyzing the system to get a feel on whether this will be a good thing or not. from what I have seen its a try it and find out, unfortunately this is a production system and people don't like to just try things, they would like a little certainty. Thanks Justin

I am having problems deleting the previous mapped drives. If I put the delete 'code' in the VBScript, it deletes the mapping later on in the script (so no M: drive at all). If I put it in a separate batch file, it deletes the mapping (no M: or U: drives). However, the drives being mapped to staff departments isn't the problem. It's the My Documents redirection and user's rights at the root of \\server\department that is. So...I created unique GPO's per Staff OU redirecting each to their respective folder, here's the error: Event Type: Error Event Source: Folder Redirection Event Category: None Event ID: 108 Date: 5/30/2008 Time: 4:55:26 PM …

Hello, could anyone help me identifing cause for almost everydays server restart? It's a HP blade server with W2K3 Server SP2. It's a file server where Services for UNIX is installed and shares some data with NFS. There's nothing in the eventlog before and after the restart what may be the cause. When i logon after the restart i could only see error message (serious error...) and in the dump file there are some things like: Unable to load image \WINDOWS\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ntkrnlpa.exe Unable to load image \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\nfssvr.sys, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to v…

Jobs hang in print queue win 2003 standard
by Guest Mike S.- 3 replies

I have set up Win 2003 standard server as a print server, and one of the required hotfixes, knowledge base article 934885, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934885 is required to prevent the print jobs from hanging up in the queue. I have tried the work arounds but it requires that you restart the computer, or the print spooler, every time you print a job. The bottom of the article requires that I submit a request, to microsoft, for the hotfix (which I have done twice) and they will respond within 8 business hours. NO REPLY!! How do I work around this, or obtain the hot fix. Any help is appreciated. -- Wheels@discussions.microsoft.com

PXE-E53 No boot filename received
by Guest notagirrafe- 3 replies
I started receiving this when trying to boot a PXE client after doing some long overdue updates on the server (SP2 primarily). I found that the service "Remote Installation" service BINLSVC (tcpsvcs.exe) was not running, but when I try to start it it fails withe Error 127:The specified proceedure could not be found. In teh event log it is error 7023 from "Service Control Manager". Checking properties, the .exe is in place as expected. I'm at a loss as to what to check next and would appreciate any advice (oh and I did restart the server - twice) and run a full Sophos anti-virus scan. Any ideas would be appreciated. Dave

Clients hang while accessing share on server
by Guest C Lewis- 0 replies

Hi all, I have an issue on one of my servers where clients will attempt to open a file from Word, Excel, Acrobat, or even the Run command and it will hang if a particular share is selected from the drop down. It doesn't happen when selecting other shares on the same server. It will eventually open if you have 3 minutes to wait. This does not occur when opening files from Windows Explorer either. Access to the share is quick and responsive. I also do not have this issue from accross the WAN. I can open the same share from Word while at our second site with no problem or lag. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated, -- C Lewis

How to setup logon
by Guest circulent- 5 replies

I manage a small Windows 2003/Windows XP domain. I'm trying to figure out a way for all users to be able to logon to any computer without having to set each person up as a local admin everywhere. This would not apply to servers though. If I don't ive each person local admin right, then I get this message: The local policy of this machine does not allow you to logon interactively. Thoughts? Thanks
