CI files growing and reducing C drive disk space
by Guest lmhaggblom@besafeandfree.org- 1 reply

On Monday, 09/29/08, my Windows Server 2003 system told me I was low on system resources, and when I checked, I only had 700 MB of 12 GB left of free disk space when I should of had 2.27 GB free space. The problem was the "CIfiles" folder, which held a 500 MB .ci file. The number in the file name was also on three other files, but they were small. The windows.edb file was 1GB. So, we stopped the Windows Search service, deleted all four "CIfiles" folder files with the filename of the 500 MB, and emptied the recycle bin. Then, the windows.edb file shrunk and the disk space increased back to 2.27 GB free space. We restarted the Windows Search service, and this…

I have a Proliant DL380 G4 with 4 72.8 GB drives in it. I added 2 more drives and expanded the array. In the HP array configuration, I have 164705 MB of unused space but don't see this in disk management. When trying to use diskpart in normal mode, I get error message the specified disk have less than 1 MB of free space available. The volume I chose has 34 GB of free space while the other volume (not chosen) has 11 GB free. How can I get diskpart to work?

58 seconds delay before next fax can be received
by Guest wildeskraut@googlemail.com- 0 replies

OS: Win 2003 Faxboard: Diva Analog-4 (4 ports) If I receive a fax it takes almost a whole minute (58 seconds) before I can receive the next fax, the line does not pick up calls during that time. If I start a CAPI application the line is always free if no fax is being received. My configuration does not allow any outgoing faxes on that two involved lines, so this can not be a reason for this problem. Is there such a built in delay in Microsoft fax? Thank you for your time Oliver

Don't See Program Running in Task Manager Logged on Remotely
by Guest meangene- 2 replies

Running MS Win Server 2003 R2 Std. I have a couple of programs (.exe) that I need running to import/export data between our ERP and another application. When I start these two programs running from the console but then come in remotely (RDC) and log in with same ID/password, do not see them running. Of course, if I start them up remotely, then they conflict with each other and crash. Vendor and I have agreeded to start/stop them while logged in remote with same ID/password and disconnect remote session (not log off). Question - is there a way that we can start the programs running at the console and still see them in task manager with a remote log in to ve…

I copied virtual disk (.vhd) to another location and crated new Virtual machine and connected it to the copied disk. The vhd had Windows 2003 installed and after the start of new machine I got Local area connection 3. The original vhd had Static IP number and it had local area connection. Hot change it? The settings are exact the same. Another question how to change the SID of the new virtual server 2003? Regards MarcusB

We have 3 file servers running windows 2003 and 2008 on HP proliant servers. We need more disks in arrays. We have been using so far RAID 0+1. Is it possible to add extra disk to RAID 0+1 array and extend the size of the existing logical drive? Or we need to change to RAID 5 level. We have know two RAID 0+1 arrays: One array: 500 GB SATA disk 500 GB SATA disk Second Arrays: 1TB SATA disk 1TB SATA disk Can we add 4 1TB disks (2 to each array) and extend the logical drive size? We have Smart Array controlers P800 on all our servers MarcusB ------------------------------------------------------ Hosted by: http://zmiany.bloog.pl/

I'm getting the below error in thevent log: The Open Procedure for service "ASP.NET_2.0.50727" in DLL "C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_perf.dll" failed. Google offers a lot of possible 'involved' solutions. So, starting at the beginning... In Add/Remove programs I have... 1) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 2) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366) 3) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB947742) 4) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 I don't see an entry for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Just the SP2. Is the above the correct entries? Should I remove all and start over with .NET 2.0? thanks

We have a 2003 Server that is being used as a file and print server. It is also running our Panda antivirus, WSUS, and BackupExec. The machine is running out of memory on a weekly basis and requires a reboot after it freezes. When I rebooted it on Wednesday it said it was only using about 750 MB of RAM, according to Task Manager. Right now (5 days later) it is over 2,150 MB. The machine has 2 GB installed. Can somebody tell me where to begin? Thanks, Ron
