Hi, We are running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition on a Dell server PE2800 with 6.0 G of RAM running Service Pack 2. Every Monday between 9:15 am and 9:30 am the server locks up for about 6 to 9 minutues. If I run task manager before this occurs, the Server Utilization only runs at 1 to 2 percent during entire the lock up time (updates are displayed in the task manager window and I can move the task manager window around on the screen). The LEDs on the server hard drives flash pretty much solid during this time (using RAID LEVEL 5). During the lock up, you cannot click on any desktop icon, the start bar, time, etc. When it nears the end of t…

Memory handling on large-file-copy jobs
by Guest MarioC- 0 replies

When I start copying large files (>2GB) from one Windows 2008 Server to another both servers consume the whole physical memory for file caching. When the copy job starts it seems that Windows uses mostly all memory for file-copy caching. Is there any known way to prevent a windows server 2008 to decrease the amount of memory used for file service caching ? Thanks for answers, Mario

need to disable auto logoff of admin (win2k3 server)
by Guest Peter Quiring- 1 reply

I have a Win2K3 Server and we need to keep the administrator logged in 24/7 365. But Windows is auto logging off admin every night. We run a few stand-alone server apps that do NOT run as services. (billing and proxy). How can we disable the auto log off feature that must be enabled somewhere? No need to worry about security since the screen saver will protect the admin account. Currently we need a supervisor to visit the office every morning before any of the workers can start !!! Please help, Thanks.

Problem calling .NET dll in Windows 2003 R2
by Guest emma2740@gmail.com- 2 replies

Hi I have one Server-client program running in Windows 2003 R2 server. My program has one dll (written in C++) which calls one dll written in C#. The program works fine in Windows XP, but it can not work well in Windows 2003 R2. I find the error is that the C++ dll can not CreateInstance() for the C# dll. So the C# dll can not be loaded. I have worked a long time on it. The dlls are registered. All settings for my program in Win 2003 R2 server is same as in the XP server. I wonder that the cause of the problem is some security settings in Win2003 R2. Has anybody similar experience ? Thank you for your help!!

Hi there, In my production environment I have a server in a remote region that is connected via a slow VPN connection at about 100kbit. I want to mimic this connection speed in my test environment so that I can do some stress testing of our application. Is there a tool I can use to limit the bandwidth of my network card to 100kbit while I do my stress test? Thanks, Mark.
